Make it mandatory to run day and night cycle

well what is the point of 24/7 lighting day and night and 90 percent wont run night time due to server ranking and popularity

maybe by making it part of the rules to run day and night then atleast all would see the feature and at least use it.

also finding servers is also not as easy running just night time or darkness

so maybe a seperate setting when searching for servers with the required daylight

It's hard to really blame guys who want to keep their servers busy that they want to keep their servers on a consistent daylight cycle. I know you worked really hard for those goggles, but 98% of the playerbase doesn't have them and can't really play without them.

I'd like this to happen, it makes things more interesting last night I ran around with flare and almost killed a kid but he D/ced, dissapointing.

Anyways I don't have NVG's and don't abuse the Gamma settings to much either.

Night time is a lot easier to survive other players IMHO. Once you learn the map steer clear of big major cities/airfields and just take it cautiously in smaller inland towns you will be fine. But forcing servers to do that I dont agree with. Server resets are needed for best performance.

But you can play at night. Flares and flashlights are rather bad if someone is near but glowsticks rock. Hold a glowstick and you can see everything you need to and no one can see the light at 85m out (this is for green, I don't know if it's the same for all of them).

I work as a Bartender and 9/10 most weeks I come back from work at about 12AM. I want to chill out for a few hours, I'll hit up DayZ. Maybe a GB server to have less lag. I'd hate it all GB servers were forced to run the same cycle.

I sure do love all this pitch black I'm seeing. All night. Every night. I'm not gonna lie, yeah, I love rocking daytime servers-- but I only play Night Time if I'm feeling extra daredevil because as much as I love being a walking rave light, bullets are an amazing deterrent from my desire to be able to see anything including loot or my way out of a dense forest.

Wait, what? I'm supposed to care how my server ranks now......why? What am I selling that I need a high rank?

As to day / night, there's a few issues with restarts at times. I've had problems where the server gets set back to daylight

No they mean nothing, I am a server owner and I run standard day/night cycles and I could careless about rankings.

And on top of that we need to restart our servers multiple times a day just to keep lag down so everytime we restart it goes back 12 hrs and since server admins dont have the power to change the time (except vilayer when it works :P) we sorta have our hands tied with your argument

I personally restart my servers 4 times a day to try and keep the time within a few hours of reality.

so if server owners arnt willing to run the night cycle maybe just remove it from game as its pointless if we cant play it.

alot of night time servers dont actually run as said in there listing and run day time and there isnt any great filtering system in dayz to see night time only servers.

Do you actually run your own server? It's not about willing to run day/night cycle. DayZ becomes easily unsynched with server time, if your servers restarts are every 8 hours you going to have at least 4+ hours of lost time, especially now with the latest patch and the increase in disk usage.

Do you actually run your own server? It's not about willing to run day/night cycle. DayZ becomes easily unsynched with server time, if your servers restarts are every 8 hours you going to have at least 4+ hours of lost time, especially now with the latest patch and the increase in disk usage.

This. We just don't have the tool available to us to easily facilitate a workable day/night cycle right now. If you want to be mad about this - be mad at the DayZ devs for putting such tight leashes on the server hosting companies, not us.

Its not really about the admins controling the server time as i stated about we cant really as the server time is set by the nod/box time

Here's my issue with night: DayZ is about survival. So, unless I have NVG's, it would be a huge detriment to my survival to move around at night when there are zeds and, especially, other players that can, potentially, see me from a huge distance when I can't see them. Therefore, playing at night without NVG's is simply not in the spirit of DayZ, which is to survive. Playing on a server that is nearly empty is also not in the spirit of DayZ, so that rules out that argument. Since I have no NVG's I "sleep" at night in a safe place and wait for daylight to move around.

Now if Rocket comes out and says that survival is not the goal...
