sheepdog 7 Posted July 22, 2012 I'm at a point in this game where I still really enjoy it but the issue is getting geared up. If I die, generally speaking, within 15-20 mins I have EVERYTHING I need again. I dont need anything else to survive, thus the game is done for me.That doesn't make sense IMO, there is no "survival" aspect to it other than dodging players but really I could sit under a tree in the middle of no where near no loot spots and get water and kill animals and be set. I realize everyone has their own play style but I feel the ease of gearing up and aspect of not needing other players is the downfall of this game.People looking for guns if they dont find them will switch servers to make this process even faster thus breaking the immersion in the game and exploiting the problems it currently presents. I think characters should be bound to servers. I know people are going to complain about that but it really does break the immersion when people can dodge players and change servers to cheat and or get weapons/gear because they couldn't find what they wanted on the first one.I would like to see more things implemented to prevent this, and a need to group up with other players for certain instances (not just blood which isn't a necessity)
Jasmer 77 Posted July 22, 2012 i agree with you... yah itd be a pain in the ass on everyone but... it probably would give a higher sense of 'immersion' to the game :D u have my vote for this to happen... tho the only bad thing is... if that server ur char is locked to... goes down... or wont let u connect... ur fcked... Priceless 154 Posted July 22, 2012 Have you ever played in a sandbox? You can do nothing, make castles, dig, pick your nose etc. The game lets you play how you want if you want your hand held and quest hubs etc sorry this game isnt for you. As far as the exploiting again this is alpha the dev team knows these exploits and are working hard to rid the game of these. Most games dont allow everyone to test alpha consider yourself lucky. suspense 210 Posted July 22, 2012 These are all things that will get solved later in the development stage, but isnt likely to happen so long the game is a mod. A mod is limited in many ways. In this case, server hopping becomes an issue due to how the current system works, and there really arent any way to solve this without moving to a tranquility server, this cant happen with ArmA.Once the game moves to an alpha stage on its on platform, these things will most likely get fixed. But as long as its a mod, server hopping is likely not gonna get fixed.New items can obviously be added, and Rocket also talked about instanced bases which adds a new element to the end-game, giving that more rare items are added, the whole surviving aspect changes as you raid other clans bases in order to find better loot at stock up. Point is, all these advanced features are not likely to happen on a modbase, what we play is literally 5% of what it would be capable of on its own platform, hopefully the future brings DayZ on its own platform.
unclegus 21 Posted July 22, 2012 Having characters saved on servers is a bit dumb, but having private hives would be better. That way an ISP can set up eight servers tied to the same hive server, providing enough coverage for their customers without having to limit people to one server to keep their character. You'd still get server hopping, but only amongst that group. I have another idea for preventing server hopping in another thread.
sheepdog 7 Posted July 22, 2012 Consider myself lucky that I'm alpha testing? Consider it lucky that I am finding faults and play testing for them for free. The issue is there is too many newbs jumping servers to get their sniper rifles to camp on the hills of elektro and it needs to be fixed because its a broke system. As well, If I can gear up to the point of being able to indefinitely survive in the woods from 15 minutes of looting on a survival game, there is a problem with that. There is NO incentive for me to help other people or group up, actually I find the more people the more attention and problems currently.

Dude as long as the exploits are avalible there will always be people to use them. When searching for one imperticular weapon I actually do find myself doing this, do note that its mostly for the satisfaction of finding something rare. I do agre this should be fixed some how... although im not sure how. Edited July 22, 2012 by thatcommiekid
