Additional map options

Before I start, something I noticed yesterday is that when you place a marker on the map (double-click, the (X) icon), it shows up to everyone, or at least people near you. Is this statement accurate and intended or a bug?

It'd be nice to have persistent map markers you can place, like thumb tacks of different colors that only show up on your map and go across servers (stored locally). I'd really like to be able to stick a thumbtack or mark on places of interest, like towers to get a vantage point, or wrecks, or water sources, etc.

It'd also be nice to otherwise have an updated map with the additional things like the actual positions of wells/pumps that have been added onto the map, and the ability to remove the black (X) marks.

Maybe do this in the form of a much rarer digital map? Something that shows up only in military installations?

Also, you can delete your own (x) marks by just hovering over them and pressing 'delete'.

Thanks for making me feel dumb, but I'll keep that in mind :) Is the marker-showing-up-for-everyone thing intended or not?

Markers are dependent on chat channel. So if you are currently in direct chat then only the people that are near you will get the marker. Make sure you change your chat channel to side of global before placing your marker down. Unless you only want your buddies to see the ma,rk then make sure they are close to you when you put the mark down.

Wow thanks, that actually makes life a lot simpler, now I can just mark my friend's maps without telling the whole server :)
