Just a sweet late night idea.

Recommended Posts

While browsing the DayZ forums for some news and stories, like I do before sleep every night, an idea had sparked in my head as a page was loading. I remembered hearing that the power lines were a proper network on the map and that Underground bases are a fairly high possibility in the future of DayZ's development.

So then I came to the idea that we could hook up grid power to these underground bases, and so long as the nearest power station is being maintained you could run lights, security, hydroponics systems etc.

The stations, after being cleared of zombies and activated, could run for a few days and possibly there could be a small chance of a hoard of zombies that attack the base once it is activated.

This will add just another type of non infected human comradery, which would work for the benefit of many survivors and bandits alike.

As more of a survivor, I'd love to see something similar happen,

So is the community with me on this?

I think this is a great idea the whole thing about power to an underground base but they should make it hard to hook it up since you dont want like 30 bases on a power line and if they made it to easy to start you would have so many noobs flooding under ground maybe adding the idea of a chance the grid you are on fails and you have to find parts to repair it and to first start electirc for the base you need certain parts kind of like finding parts for a car. This could give way to some more great ideas like electric fences and other great traps.

I'm totally for some rare items to be added to industrial buildings for the use of getting your house connected to the grid. I had the idea myself but I don't know what they could be or how exactly power is given to the bases. Maybe a 'Power Box' and a large 'spool of electrical wiring'?

Is rocket making these bases visible to other players to invade or will they be private/group residences? I've never played EVE and seen the flagships or whatever he talked about, nor have I played Xcom to see where he draws his inspiration.
