Items gone on log in

Hi, I dont have any proof of what i am going to say, but here is what happend.

I was doing my regular camping looking for prey ( sitting with my thermal scoped L85 aws camping stary sobor) I didnt see anyone so i switched server. Still nothing so i switched again and again and again untill i decided to switch to SE 9. When the loading screen was over I right click to use the scope, nothing happend. I checked my inventory only too see my L85 was gone without a trace.

So was this my fault for switching servers to often or just a regular bug?

welcome to the game where all your data is stored on a overloaded Hive server. It proberly missed some packages when it saved your characters state

And don't server hop that is a lewd way of playing the game. plus the odds of hive fucking up tenfolds

Not all servers run on the primary database but rather have their own database setup. Usually you can tell cuz they'll put non-hive in the title or it will say DayZ Private in the mission type.

Server hopping + laggy servers etc makes stuff disappear easily :) To be safe wait 2 - 5 minutes before changing server and even then things might end up badly...

yeah ive lost some good gear, i find some loot just before heading to bed for the night, log off and its gone in the morning. generally now i stay logged in 30 minutes after finding something really good just to be safe.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna take a break from DayZ for awhile. I don't mind it so bad if I get killed by a player or zombies, because at least then it was my fault, someone got the jump on me, or someone was flat out better than me. I can deal with those. But after days and days of surviving and gathering, I lost everything but what was in my vest between the time I logged off one server because it was too dark to see anything, and logging on 3 servers later after finding a daylight server. Not sure which server I lost everything on, but I lost my M16A3 CCO, side arm, my Coyote pack and everything in it including my CZ550. I know none of those was extremely rare, but still, it took a lot of risk and gathering to aquire.

So I'm going to wait til this bug gets worked out, however long that'll be.
