System for reducing of PvP

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

So, I am pretty sure all of you guys have experienced that moment when you walk around a corner, see another guy, and get shot in the face... And yes, I am aware of the fact that this is just part of the gameplay in DayZ. But what about a system that would increase the time it would take a person to respawn, depending on the amount of murders they committed with there other character. Lets say I kill 2 survivers and would die. Then it would take me 20 minutes (just an example, in this case 10 minutes per murder) before I could respawn and start a new character. This way people would think twice about killing another survivor and they wouldn't just shoot on sight, but yet at the same time people are still allowed PvP if they want too and are not punished in a way that feels unrealistic so to say. I would appreciate some feedback on the idea.

So what if I survive for 30 days and kill 1 survivor every day? Do I have to wait for 300 minutes to respawn after I die?

Can't support this.

Well yeah, but you must realize that by adding such a system you probably wouldn't kill 1 survivor every day and because you would think twice before doing so.

What if I have to kill a clan of 20 out of personal defense? Probably a rare event but still something to think about is killing for personal defense.

Err, so when I killed 5 guys the other day in an ambush at Zub castle, I get punished for defending myself?

I'm not sure you've really thought this through have you?

There is no way for detecting personal defense.. so aguess if you were to kill 20 survivors it would take you 200 minutes to respawn, if they were bandits you wouldn't get punished for killing them.

I think it would be better to make it so that kills increase your spawn time, but the amount of time that you live reduces it. So if you killed 2 survivors, but you survived a whole day, you wouldn't receive a penalty.

This way, it punishes the people who sit ontop of buildings in Cherno and snipe players for fun all day, but not the skilled bandits or people who just kill once in a while.

I still think that there are much better solutions, however. Adding in more things to the endgame, for example, would drastically reduce the bored snipers in Elektro.

I have thought this through, when those 5 players would have seen you whenever such a system would be around, they would probably not have engaged you therefor removing the problem itself.

ya..., no

The most important thing here is that in order to stop the bandit problem, we need to stop suggesting stupid punishments which hit the innocent almost more then the bandits, and instead encourage teamwork. A.K.A. postitive reinforcment rather then negative. Rocket has already said he wont punish bandits, so we may as well stop pushing for him to do so.

Punishing PvP playstyle is like punishing the players for playing. It is a part of the game, and it always will be a part of the game. There are other ways to make PvP more difficult/dangerous. (I already made a suggestion in another thread)

Man, the amount of posts about how to stop bandits and how to punsih them for being bandits, is too damn high!

The only people who should ever be punished by the game it self is hackers. Other than that, if you want to punish the bandit that killed you, you remember were he/she was and you try to find him/her and kill him/her.

Banditry is never gonna stop, never ever. One can only hope to decrease the amount of bandits by makeing it more profitable to be friends with people rather than shooting then im the face. Now I never said that bandits should be removed because they are an part of the game, but what i hope fore in the future is that people would stop shooting everyone they see because of paranoia. Not every person in the game is out there for your beans.

Everyone is asking for more content for the endgame. I think, Rocket will have some ideas for this, but at some point there is no more content possible or desirable.

I think, your idea is good, but I would decrease the penalty to 2 minutes waiting time per kill. I don't want to sit an hour before the loading screen after a succesfull 20 days ingame time. If I ever reach that goal.

I remember when i was attacked by three dudes, took two of them down before i finally succumbed to my wounds.

For trying to fight for my life i get the reward of having to wait for 20 minutes to be able to play again.

Fuck no.

rocket has stated that he would rather shut the game down entirely than implement rules and punishments against certain styles of play, including "shoot on sight" PvP.

A respawn delay is a punishment.

So rocket will shut the game down before he implements your idea.

This will not happen. Nor will anything like it.

Ever.

Can we end the thread here?

So if I kill 1 guy on self defence while he has no murders but is trying to kill me I deserve 10 minutes of wait?

"... And yes, I am aware of the fact that this is just part of the gameplay in DayZ."

You do realize this is a game about a world filled with zombies and bandits, it's up to you to decide how to survive? I want to bean smack you soo hard right now. Go back to being murder points for snipers along the cost.

the only way to decrease pvp is to increase pve: make game nearly impossible to play solo(even though i`m lone survivor by myself).

I think a Karma system would be awesome in this game but I think it could possibly lead players to "Kill for Karma" but also i think it could make people "Help others for Karma".

Bonuses could range from supplies to skins. Obviously, you wouldn't be able to manage your Karma in game and it would be something that just happens.

Kind of like Fallout events, where an NPC will come up to you and maybe give you a weapon or just tell you off or something lol.

"Hey Asshole, I was that guy you were shooting at you dick knocks you out, steals 1 thing from your inventory and runs away" lolol The AI script would be pretty hard to do I think.

Maybe increase respawn timer by 1 minute whenever you kill a survivor, and reduce it by 1 minute when you kill a bandit? That way, bandits would have to hunt each other in order to respawn faster!
