robertstuartmarshall 1 Posted May 21, 2012 lol nice vid. What do people use to record so smoothly? I used to use FRAPs but got sick of the massive slowdown during filming.Recently, I was playing with a newb friend somewhere on the east coast when he aggro'd a pack of zombies and ran in circles wondering what to do. I managed to type "When i run past follow me and keep up" and legged it past him. I remembered a town a bit further north that has some small sheer cliff faces just to the south of it and thought "what the hell"We made it all the way up there and by now we were managing to to grab a few split seconds to type here and there as the zeds had lost some ground in the bushy areas, and as we neared the cliff I jokingly typed "Rem: press space to jump" before we both just limply fell off the edge. Both of us had instant leg breaks and insta proned, followed in the next ten seconds or so by about 30 hostile zeds all just falling to their doom around us. Fits of laughter followed by the realisation that the daft bugger had dropped his morphine for ammo some time ago without asking. Don't worry, I did the decent thing. I shot him to pieces. DaPessimist 1 Posted May 21, 2012 You can record with little or no FPS loss with Fraps. Just need a better computer.
robertstuartmarshall 1 Posted May 21, 2012 I have one absolutely top of the range gaming laptop and a pretty sweet desktop, both great at running games and both kept super clean. No matter what game I play, be it the latest AAA top of the world graphics blockbuster or a 10 year old RPG with minimal gfx, FRAPs drops the fps by at least 10-20.No idea why, but I have heard that there are many better programs than FRAPs out there that run a lot better. Works fine for me. Just have to deal with fraps recording at 29.9 FPS. I don't do 60 FPS cause you can't tell the difference when you upload it to youtube. robertstuartmarshall 1 Posted May 21, 2012 Hmm, okso it's more a matter of just changing the settings. I sort of gave up after the TW series a year or so ago when I realised that a lot of times the replay I was watching was not all my own battle but a lot of weird generic stuff. Cannot remember the full story but a few people said they had similar issues.
.:14A41:.Pvt.p4lztZ 3 Posted May 21, 2012 I used to do it all the time so that I didn't have to be cautious. But it seems like as soon as I kill them all they spawn anyway. So now I'll just sneak and if I get aggro from one I'll kite him out to the woods so that I don't end up getting the whole damn town on me and wasting ammo. ihax 16 Posted May 21, 2012 Yeah we pretty much killed everything in that town and booked it right after. Didn't even bother checking anymore zombies for food or anything knowing zombies were just about to respawn on top of us any minute

FRAPS caps Arma 2 at 30fps while recording and only during intense firefights with lots of explosions etc. or in specific areas on Chernarus (those brown trees!!) frames can drop below 30 with mostly high graphics (SMAA, normal AA disabled). Arma 2 is installed on a SSD, the files are saved on a 1TB Caviar Green, processor is a i7-920 OC'd to 4GHz.
ihax 16 Posted May 21, 2012 I just download it to my 500gb WD black and using a i5 2500k OC'd to 4.5 GHz
