Problems getting game to work - Yes, i've read forums

Recommended Posts

So, I bought ARMA 2 today (along with a million other people, i'm sure - sorry, vets)

anyway, i download and install the 14+ GB worth of arma, i go to the forums and discover that i should launch arma and arma oa in steam under admin, fair enough. i download the newest dayz files and create the @dayz/addons directory as told. i change launch properties and start the game - ok, these server filters seem about useless and i can't connect to any games without being told my version is the wrong one.

i decide to use six launcher/update because, well, it seems to be the solution to live and the question to 42.

i fire up six launcher and go to options,

game path arma2:oa : d:\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead

game path arma2:original : d:\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2

mod path : d:\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@dayz\addons

i make sure the force enable beta and update beta patch are unticked, and i select 'launch through steam'

anytime i hit 'quick match' - i get "Error creating Direct3D 9 Graphical engine"

i've googled, ive read forums, i've done all i could answer but i'm just trying to play the game - if anyone could give me some pointers - basically the six launcher gives me error codes, and launching the game directly gives me almost no servers i can play on - gah, help?

um.... Quick match... is crap... you find a server manually and it should work and the Ingame thing shows servers that youll be able to play on with no problem and not get effed over by the server fails

thanks for the info - but every single server i tried in-game either would not let me join or told me i had the wrong version (they all seem to run 1.7.1.5)

edit:

still getting the error creating direct3d 9 engine message when i manually join a server :(

ok, here what you do. first off. remove all of those game paths.

second off run six launcher and make sure your @dayz folder is in the oa folder and your beta folder is under expansion

after that, go into your beta folder and look for the arma2oa.exe make sure it reads 1.62.95.208 or 1.62.0.95208 same thing depending on what you look at.

after that, copy your arma2oa.exe from the beta folder and paste it into your operation arrowhead folder.

paste this into your steam launch settings.

-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@Dayz

You´ve gotta run Steam and the game itself as admin...
