jrockk 0 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) So I ran bootcamp on my MacBook Pro and I knew I wasn't going to get the best gameplay on it but after watching videos I figured I would at least be able to have some fun with the game, was I ever wrong. The game runs horribly, takes 10 minutes just to load into a server, the game is just flat out unplayable. I've been tinkering with the settings, updating drivers, doing whatever I can to get some sort of enjoyment out of this game but it seems impossible. When I'm running and I look the left it shifts about 90 degrees move a small amount of movement from my mouse and to another kick in the sack is when I try to test out my settings and see if even function my flashlight won't even turn on. So I expect to get scolded for trying to run it on a MacBook Pro but after watching this video ( ) I thought I would be able to run it no problem seeing as the only difference is I have i5 instead of i7 but to no avail my laptop has a hard time running it on low. So please can someone explain what I am doing wrong. Edited July 22, 2012 by jbeaul27
Thortimer 37 Posted July 22, 2012 Hmm... I have a similar set up, except an early 2011 MBP. How much ram do you have (mine has been upgrade to 8gb)? I do need to have all the settings to their lowest, but I can get 88% 3d resolution at 1280x800. It runs fluidly. What kind of video situation do you have going on in there? Alopex 46 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) If your performance is crappy when you attempt to run vanilla ArmA 2: OA (without DayZ), then I'm afraid that I can't offer you any advice (aside from perhaps updating your graphics drivers). If, however, OA runs well on it's own, and the performance problems are specific to DayZ, then I suggest that you give this previous post a read: http://dayzmod.com/f...rd/#entry381618Hope it helps. species5021 28 Posted July 22, 2012 You did install all the newest drivers etc right? If you just installed windows and left it at that then yes i would probably run pretty badly.
jrockk 0 Posted July 22, 2012 Alright so I'm going off memory, i5, 3000 HD Intel graphics card, 4GB RAM and that's all I can remember because I'm on my phone. I went to update the drivers but I wasn't sure if I was installing the driver again or updating so I didn't do anything
Alopex 46 Posted July 22, 2012 Oh, Intel Integrated graphics hardware and demanding games generally don't mix very well. That's probably the reason for your lacking performance. :x
jrockk 0 Posted July 22, 2012 I know Macs arent the best for gaming but the guy in the video is using the same video card as me
Alopex 46 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) The late 2011 Macbook Pros contain either an AMD HD6750M or HD6770M graphics card. These cards are more than powerful enough to run ArmA 2 at a playable frame rate. You may want to check your system specs yourself. To do so, type "Device Manager" into the search prompt of the start menu while you are running Windows via boot camp. Click on the "Display Adapters" tab and let us know what you see. If you do have that same Macbook pro, then you should see either of the two aforementioned adapters listed there, but if it's something else, we'll need to know in order to diagnose your problem. :) Edited July 23, 2012 by Alopex
