How do I remove a map marker?

My buddy didn't realize that other players can see the map markers on their maps, so he marked where our base is in the letters 'base' (I know). Are we gonna have to leave or can we remove the marker...

Open the map, put your cursor over the marker, and press the "Delete" button. I'm pretty sure it's "delete". If it's not "delete", then try "backspace". It's one of those two.

Pretty sure they do. They do in Arma.. and i doubt that has been modified for Dayz.
