I'm getting tired of this...

Recommended Posts

I've been doing multiple things for the last few hours and i can still not get DayZ to work.

Everytime i try joining through Six Launcher or server list, i get the error,

"You cannot play/edit this mission, it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.dayz_code, dayz_weapons, dayz_equip"

I have tried multiple things in the past three/four hours, including adding the code, "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca;@dayz" to _RunA2CO_beta.cmd, adding the code, "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@dayz -nosplash" to steam launch options, Downloading beta, reinstalling beta, reinstalling DayZ both manually and using Six Launcher, Copying the addon folder from ARMA 2 to the Operation Arrowhead folder and using the beta .exe with Operation Arrowhead.

My @DayZ folder is in my Operation Arrowhead folder with addons, i have followed the guides for manual installation and i have tried multiple times to install/reinstall with Six Launcher.

Please help me with this issue.

Thanks, Silverspar.

When I was having this problem, I figured out I hadn't installed the last patch to Arma II (it's a 1.6 patch, but it isn't the beta patch). My version of Arma 2 would only auto update to 1.57.something and that was what caused the problems logging onto servers and using the mod at all.

I found the patch here when I fixed my problem: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=15831

I hope this helps,

Thortimer

This is only a path issue. Your launcher can not find the DayZ mod files (this is the ONLY reason for your problem).

I'd never recommend to use six launcher or steam to actually start the game, only to update it (tho ofc it works for many people out there but I always prefer manually methods and control over my files).

You should either use DayZCommander or the beta shortcut in your operation arrowhead root folder with the only startparameters: -nosplash -mod=@dayz

This is always solved this problem when I received it, just make sure you use the right shortcut.

Oh and you shoudn't have copied the addons thingy from Arma2 to ArmaOA.. this can actually cause more future problems.

That doesn't seem to work either weirdly, i tried starting with the Beta executable and joining a server and i still get the same error.

Thank you for replying though.

I also have @DayZ in the main menu if that helps any.

I saw your edited post and it still doesn't work, It still gives me the same error even though i use the beta executable or Six Launcher. But i'm curious what you mean by "Shortcut", you do mean the executable in the Operation Arrowhead folder right?

Thank you for trying to help though, i appreciate it.

In your root folder of OA: ...Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead there is a file called "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch"

In its target line it sais: "your path to\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@dayz

If you don't have a shortcut like that create one and fill in the target line like I posted above.

If this still doesn't work please download and install dayzcommander and try to connect through it without changing any settings.

Download: http://dayzcommander.blob.core.windows.net/releases/Dotjosh.DayZCommander.Installer.msi

Whats up with The battleye wont let me update i cant play too much issues to launch à game And i AM no IT specialist

Go to your Arma2 folder and there is a folder called "BattleEye". Inside there is a uninstall.exe which you have to use so you remove Battleeye from your computer.

Do the same in your Arma2 Operation Arrowhead / Expansions / BattleEye folder.

After this navigate through your windows explorer to C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 OA and delete the BattleEye folder in there.

When you are done with all this install the newest Arma2 Beta: ftp://downloads.bistudio.com/arma2.com/update/beta/ARMA2_OA_Build_95208.zip

Then reinstall battleeye through the setup which you can find in your Arma2 / BEsetup folder. Do the same for Operation Arrowhead.

IMPORTANT! Download THIS: http://www.battleye.com/downloads/arma2/1.61/BEClient.dll and put it into your arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\BattlEye folder and overwrite the existing file.

Enjoy the game.

yea I highly recommend the wiki as it will walk your through everything regardless of your setup. The guy above is correct in that it just cannot find the files. So its a launch issue.

http://dayzwiki.com/...to_install_DayZ

Seriously. follow the wiki. you probably just need to edit the right .cmd file and launch from that (if you're doing things manually)

Am i missing something?, i've followed those instructions.

I've made a folder in my Operation Arrowhead base folder Called @DayZ and a folder in that called Addons, I have the lines ":run

call "%_ARMA2OAPATH%\Expansion\beta\ARMA2OA.exe" "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca;@dayz" "-mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" -window -nosplash -cpuCount=2 -exThreads=7 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 " in _RunA2CO_beta, i tried running with the _RunA2CO_beta CMD file, i've put all of the right things in the steam launch options

(-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@dayz -nosplash) and @DayZ shows up on the main menu.

I'm completely stumped, is there something i've overlooked?

Thank you for trying to help.

Silverspar

Edit: If it would help a little, in my Addons folder i have 14 files, All of them various things like dayz_code, dayz_sfx, dayz_equip, dayz_vehicles and dayz_weapons and dayz.pbo.

Edit2: It seems the only files the error is telling me i'm missing that i'm not is dayz_code, dayz_equp, dayz_vehicles and dayz_weapons.

Edit3: I just tried updating it and still have the same error, then i just copy-pasted the "dayz_" files into the AddOns folder in the Arma 2 folder and it still gives me the same error. Am i doing something wrong?

hmm.... well if you have 14 files in there (.pbo and .bisign extensions) and you setup the .cmd... and youve tried re-extracting the files...(btw the steam launch option will have no effect so dont worry about that part)... I'm thinking of anything else... will edit/repost...

edit: i do know you are very very close :) so stay strong. we can get this

edit: have you tried re- unzipping the 7 rars into those 14 files?

maybe do the confirm the integrity of the cache option in the properties for the OA via steam's library section (right click the game name)

.... hmmm

reinstalling arma is almost never it, so don't punish yourself in that manner...

I've deleted and reextracted the DayZ folder multiple times and i've done the verify the integrity option once, no change.

I did it once, and deleted it after i told it causes problems.

I have steam open at all times.

In desperation, i also copied my DayZ files to my ArmA2 Addon folder.

i dont know if adding "-mod=@dayz" to the steam launch options has an effect (when launching with the command script). all the resources on this error say the same thing that it is the launch option or the files.

I'm sure you've tried a full restart. I'm sure you have up to date files...

Im wondering if either of the times you copied an addons folder was not truly reversed

some files could have been overwritten depending on where you dropped what.

Okay, maybe this'll help.

I tried launching Combined Ops, and it wouldn't start up at first so i launched Arma 2 and then Combined Ops afterwards.

After messing with the graphical settings and playing in boot camp a bit i decided to try install DayZ manually. I downloaded the torrent of DayZ and did what a tutorial said (Which is make a @DayZ folder and put Addons in it) then i put -mod=@dayz in the command line. I thought it was going to work so i tried joining a server and got the error. I consulted a friend about the mysterious error and he told me to install Six Launcher. I updated it and tried to join a server with it but alas, no cigar. so i spend 3-4 hours doing the multiple things i've listed in this thread and still it's giving me the same error.

Hopefully you can help.

Thanks, Silverspar.

Edit: There's one thing i havn't tried yet that might work, i'm going to delete local content and delete all of the ArmA2 related folders then reinstall it, i'll report back in a few hours.

Maybe I'm beating you up with questions about stuff you have already tried, but I keep trying until we get it :)

so is your folder structure like this:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@dayz\addons\ <-- then the 14 files are inside the top level folder "addons"?

I just deleted everything ArmA2 related and about to install, but the path was: C:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/ Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead/@DayZ/Addons/

I see. I imagine somewhere along the way to fixing your issue another one may have been introduced. That always makes debugging more fun (sadistic).

I hope you have better luck now that you are doing a clean install with the wiki guide on your side.

Well, if any one encounters this problem again, I might have a sufficient solution. Id been dealing with the exactly same issue and I solved it temporarily with moving 'Addons' folder from 'arma 2' to 'arma 2 operation arrowhead' directory. And it really isnt the step in the right direction. (Steam will try to download the whole 8GB directory again). You might try the the directory junction (but most of the people just dont want to mess with that). The solution Im using right now is a bit more simple:

As I understand it, the parameter

"-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca;@dayz"

more specificaly the %_ARMA2PATH% variable tells the game to add arma 2 path to its working directory. For some odd reason, my game does not know its value (yes, ive run arma 2 a few times, to no avail). So, instead of this variable/placeholder, just overwrite it with the full path to your arma 2 directory. For me, its:

"D:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" "-mod=D:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2;EXPANSION;ca;@DayZ" -showScriptErrors -skipIntro -noFilePatching -world='empty' -nosplash -noPause

(using beta obviously)

The downside of this is the length of the entire string, so you wont be able to paste it to launch options in steam (so no steam overlay). You have to run it from a .bat file.

Hope it helps.

i had the same problem. i reinstalled everything like they said. doesnt matter depending on what server you want to get into if you use battleye. steam doesnt matter if its on and it helps. use sixinstall/update to load dayz. then i right clicked steam in the tray to open OA. went to expansion and added Dayz then it restarted. once it did that i went to mp and found a server. some servers are shit but make sure when you go to mp that dayz is in the expansion dealie. after that i got into some servers. avent used sixs servers yet. but always make sure dayz is there when you play or itll give you that stuff is deleted deal. if you have problems ill help if i can.
