Problems after problems with dayz. Help please!

Recommended Posts

So I heard of this game and it sounded pretty cool and I bought combined operations to finally try and play it but I am not having an easy time at all.

First off, I'll say that I have followed instructions and ran both Arma II and Operation Arrowhead before using six launcher to install DayZ for me. My battle eye versions are also up to date and in both folders of the two games.

My problems:

1) A lot of servers seem to get me stuck on "waiting for character to create" but not all of them ... It seems like other players in the server were having the same problem though, so I just try different servers.

2) Recently I have actually been successful in entering servers, BUT the last couple I joined started my character out shaking violently at spawn. WTF is this? I've read that your character will shake if you take damage and whatnot, but surely you're not supposed to SPAWN this way??? The shaking wouldn't stop so I just quit.

3) My FPS sucks. I've tried this:

.

Computer specs:

GTX 260

E8500

8 gigs of RAM

Is my computer just not good enough? Using fraps I determined that my framerate was between 20-30 depending on which way I was looking (seemingly random, unless I look up which yields 50) and I haven't even played the game long enough to get to a city or town, where I heard the FPS will dip even more.

Overall I'm pretty disappointed, but I know I can't really rant on the game for my own technical difficulties.

If anyone could help me out or shed some light on any of my issues listed above, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

6 launcher is a piece of poop. Try to do without it. It uses 300mb of memory and causes freezes in game on low end pc's. If you must use 6launcher then ctrl+esc out of the game after you joined a server and shut it down. (ctrl+esc is prefered because alt+tab causes you to shoot a bullet sometimes when you get back in the game)

The "waiting for character to create" is not your fault but rather the central database that can't cope with the heavy traffic.

The shaking screen means you have to take painkillers.

Your cpu should be good enough. I heard arma2 only uses 2 cores anyway. Your gpu however could do with an upgrade.

I'm not sure about your shaking when you spawn. I would re-spawn and see what happens.

To improve your frame rate open Arma and edit the advanced graphic options. Post process effects and visibility (distance of render) are the 2 that I find most effective for smoothing things out.

Thanks guys. I've heard of sixlauncher causing possible issues but there is an option for it to shut down after joining a server which I have enabled. And like I said I have heard of taking painkillers and whatnot but are you really supposed to start shaking at spawn? I guess I'll try taking the painkillers anyway next time. Also I have messed around in the advanced video settings and disabled shadows, post-processing, and AA, but I didn't mess with view distance so I'll have a go at that. Still getting 20-30 fps and wondering if it is normal. I guess my GPU is kind of a dinosaur now.

Thanks again
