Masking Scent

Recommended Posts

Can Zeds hunt by scent? If so, I think that this may be a good idea to make it a bit easier to stealth around Chernarus during the late game.

So, this would be a new item in the game: Odourless Soap. ( A different, more concise name would be nice, but I can't think of one) Odourless soap would be common loot to find in hunting stands, and rare loot to find in military bases, civilian homes, etc. Upon finding odourless soap, you could rub it on yourself to mask your scent. This would reduce the zed's ability to find you, and allow you to sneak more easily. And, when dogs are implemented, it will make it much easier to avoid them.

On the other side, "scent bombs" would be nice for some tactical approaches. You would be able to find deer scent (with the same loot chance as the odourless soap), which would become a new type of "grenade". You can then throw the deer scent to attract zeds to the location where it lands, or perhaps you could even throw it on an enemy player to cause a horde to chase him or her out of the city.

The odourless soap and deer scent would wear off of the character after a certain amount of time, or it could be removed in other ways. For example, getting in water. Deer scent and odourless soap would also remove each other, (So if deer scent was thrown on you, you could remove it with odourless soap, or vice versa)

Thoughts?

They don't find you through scent, but hearing and seeing, it would be cool if they implemented that though

I mean't lore-wise. I know they can't do it in game, but this would add it in.

Thanks for the support though.

There is a product called "Pseudo Corpse" that uhh....does what it says on the can I guess.

It's used to train police dogs to hunt for bodies at potential crime scenes.

You could smear it on yourself to mask your scent, but as Filmmaster says, that's not how they currently sense you.

I don't know, but if you put that stuff on yourself, you'd probably feel sick and suffer blurry vision at the very least.

Suggestions have been made about rubbing zombie gore on yourself to mask sent, but honestly I think it's beyond the scope of this game.
