Arma II No Lag, Day Z No FPS

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I have been playing Day Z for over a week now, but with the recent updates as of the 14th I think, the game has become unplayable almost.

Here's my setup,

Toshiba Satellite A665D

AMD Phenom II N850 x3 @ 2.2GHZ

8GBs DDR3 1366MHZ Ram

500GB 7200rpm HD

AMD Radeon HD 5650 1GB with 2GB shared system

External Acer G215HV Monitor 20" 16:9

I have my game settings currently set to 1280x720 with everything on Low or Disabled. Video Memory is set to default. I am using the launch parameter for 3 cores, no splash or intro.

I also have turned my Catalyst to max performance and tweaked my config file for shading=0 and mouse smoothing to 1.

I can performed both Arma II CO benchmarks, first was 50FPS and settings as above. Second was 50-80FPS. At night time is Day Z I get about 30-35 FPS which is perfect fine for me. But during the day time I get 10 FPS!!! I think it has to do with draw distance and lighting but HDR is on normal and draw distance is 500. I heard its a server side setting though, so, is there any way to fix this? I've tried lots of different server but all seem to be the same. It weird because before the last 2 updates I was a lot less laggy although FPS was not known, I didn't load Fraps until I started having issue and saw how low my FPS actually was.

So anyone else notice performance loss as of latest patches? I also tried maxthreads=7 and that hurt my performance a lot, should I use 3 or 5 instead? Or is there a way to disable HDR completely?

Ok, so I went ahead and tried some things in that thread.

Edited my configs for the no frame ahead and tried increasing my texture/object/terrain detail to high.

Now I get 15-17 FPS during the day.

It's more playable then 10 so thank you, but still looking for more. I think my laptop can handle atleast be able to make 30.

It's weird I have the CPU/GPU meter on my second desktop and while playing Day Z my GPU usage never goes over 60% and CPU's are between 40-75% but never maxed, so why so little FPS?
