Zombies(infected) reacting to sound 1

Recommended Posts

I like the sight mechanics introduced to zombies(infected) in 1.7.2, but I miss the sound based mechanics in 1.7.1.5. Especially with regards to the amount of noise a gun makes. Firing a gun in or near towns used to be problematic as between 5 and 100 zombies(infected) would come after you because of it. I am not saying all of the zombies(infected) near town should always aggress. However, right now usually only one or two will come running if I shoot a zombie in town and I don’t consider that to be fear inducing. I SHOULD be legitimately afraid of drawing the attention of a lot of zombies(infected). Fear of attention SHOULD be an integral part of gameplay and drilled into the player.

So many different ideas, you really can't respond to them all in a reply without writing an essay, and it is hard to read. If you make a separate post for each main point, you will be easier to understand. It says not to do this on the "read before you post" for a reason. ;)

Fudge.

I had wanted to put them all together like this because I wanted to be able to link to it in my signature, which has a limit of two url's...for that matter linking to your own posts is probably frowned on.

:sigh:

Time to break out the pruning shears!

If I was in my house doing whatever normal shit I do and I heard a gunshot outside in the town somewhere I wouldn't be able to pinpoint the bitch.

IMO it's more realistic if the zombies just got more rowdy/horny (unless they were actually in view) if they hear a gunshot

some of your ideas sounds cool... but feels unnecessary,

Gama and brightness should not be locked at 0.9-1.1 as that would be unnecessary if we could see silhouettes around us at night. same thing one of your posts is about.

im not to happy about using flashlights when reading maps. because then people would most likely just hide, alt-tab and use already searched up map to find stuff. but its a neat feature none the less.

the animal AI have been talked about allot. and i am sure this will be fixed later. its alpha and i am sure they have ideas for that.

right now many AI settings like infected speed is sett up since infected have bad tracking AI. and when runs wrong can catch up. i am sure its other compensating features like that around. and will be fixed when the alpha have progressed more.

as for inventory space my personal opinion is to agree.

i have to agree that animals in the woods sounds interesting, but this game is per to per, means that infected and loot spawn around you. how they could implant wolf packs in the game with a system like that like that sounds weird, as the wolf packs would to move on map no matter where the users where.

i am gonna stop here. i am sure i did not talk about some features, but i am lazy and will stop here.

BUT i will credit for making long post with apparently somewhat tough of ideas. and not just ran and wrote down as fast as possible

Edit: %#¤ now my post makes no sense

Sorry... I am working on putting as much my original post into discreet threads as possible.

check my sig, thread is just a one post sunk to the depths of the suggestion forum-thread ;)

Also, while i like you kept suggestions limited per thread, these two both concern sound, so picking a correct title (sounds & zombie reactions) would have made these into one thread adressing the same. Usually it's best to keep it to one suggestion though, UNLESS, the suggestions concern a same general topic. The annoyance only comes from threads that post a list of all different suggestions which then turns the discussion into a mess.
