JayNova 4 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Ok. So there is a rare repairable radio in the world of dayZ. The radio is just a receiver. You cannot talk or anything, just hear an emergency broadcast. To hear this broadcast, you need to be above a certain elevation and have a clear line of sight to the sky. The broadcast will then have a time and place there will be an extraction to safety, but will only send that broadcast out every few days. Extraction could be by sea, air or land. Could make it so it is out in the sea, so you need a boat to access it. Just make it very difficult to get to with only a short window before it leaves. If you can make it to the extraction alive and on time, that's it. End of game. Make a new survivor. Instead of servers keeping track of how many kills, it would keep track of how many survivors you have successfully made it to safety. Or keep track of both. This to me would help cure the boredom people get after they have already done everything. What do people do when they get bored? Just go out and try to find players to kill without even needing any supplies. This would be a more realistic spin on the world of dayZ IMO. Tell me what you think. Quadrophenik 19 Posted July 21, 2012 What if the radio is a super rare item that allows the holder to hear all voice chat?
vision1776 42 Posted July 21, 2012 I like objectives. There are people who complain about objectives but realize that Arma 2 revolves around objectives. the great thing about Arma 2 though is that it doesnt "guide you" on how to accomplish your objectives. You are free to accomplish them as you see fit.I really like this idea and other objectives that give meaning to the game other than just sirvive. Because "survive" right now means, get bored and go kill other players. I look for armed players that appear trigger happy. I never shoot unarmed players.

So if you get rescued, you have achieved your objective of surviving and then can start another character. Keep track of how many times you survived and have leaderboards for it. Maybe somehow encourage cooperative play to achieve survival. If you kill someone and they have a piece of the radio, it is damaged and unusable. Just....something I guess. I love this game, but I hope it goes in a more cooperative direction than a deathmatch one like its current state.
