Server hopping for gear.

This has only just occurred to me when the server i was playing crashed. I was in the fire station scavenging for stuff (my 2 week char died /sadface) and id managed to find a Silenced M9 great! then the server crashed, not so great!

Anyway, i joined a different server and spawned again in the firestation at Cherno. And there, before me, lay an Ak and some more M9 SD ammo.

And then it occured to me, surely this is a major flaw in the system? is it feasible to park yourself in an area of rare loot and simply hop across low pop servers till you get what you want? or is there some mechanism in place to stop this because it certainly seems pretty game breaking.

We have a prevention system in place for it. Its called: Waiting for server response safety system.

well i pretty much got in straight away the next server i picked.

Plus, if that loot is decent enough, waiting 15 min, for some people, would be a small price to pay for instant access to a fresh loot spawn.

Why do this? If you farm loot correctly it respawns within minutes usually. No need to server hop.

Server hop in dead servers that's what I did last night and loaded up until I stupidly went into a full server and got shot in the back a couple minutes after spawn.

I won't be doing it anymore, I think it was karma, it's a known exploit that for now nothing can be done about.

@McKenzie, the real goodies are harder to find and don't simply just respawn. I found an M14 EP1 and an MP5SD on the south side of NW AF on two different servers, no chance I would've seen both in the same area on the same server.

if ppl want to take the joy out of finding loot legitimatly out of the game then let them

it's a major part of the game they are missing out on, same goes for alt f4'ers when in combat, again missing out on a major part of the game that makes it fun
