Warning thread: look here before picking a server

Recommended Posts

A hacker killed everyone last night on DE 246. Now what? People should stop going on this server?

I don't understand the point of this thread. At first I thought there was a way to protect your server against hackers, in which case a list of unprotected servers would be useful. BUT if there's no way to protect your server, then they can be anywhere, no server is safe. EVERY server should be on the list then, because there has been a hacker on every server at least once.

He has quite a good point. It really has nothing to do with the server, ever. Nothing stops a hacker from joining any server he likes and do the same there. What you gonna do? Make a blacklist with all servers? Great.

I wouldn't be too worried about this topic if rocket wouldnt deny the fact that hacking is a massive problem for DayZ and that Battleye is completely unreliable in this regard. In fact, he is praising it.. wtf? It would be possible for him to implement a mod-side anti-cheat detection that would work ten times better than battleye. Or at least providing administrators with an actual monitoring system.

The point was that hacking is usually short term.

It's not a black list.

It's kind of like a storm warning. If you've ever lived where there are tornadoes, you find a safe place for a while and then resume your normal life.

So, the idea would be, to find out that there is hacking on a particular server, and then avoid it for a while, and come back later, particularly if it's ones home server.

Do people really not get it or am I missing some other agenda?

People can be so infantile, sometimes.

Nothing good will come from this thread, you only have to look at a mirror if you want to know why.

Insult me, fine. Insulting everyone not agreeing with you and you're classifying quite well for the official title of douchebag.

Wait wtf.

What's the difference between your "list" and a cheat report on this forum? You want to make a short-term hacking report thing, but that's exactly what this forum is about.

Trust me, we are given no tools whatsoever to be able to catch them in the act or even find their suspicious behavior in the logs.. We are having problems with hackers on our server and we have no idea how to catch them or make out who they even are...

1st, hackers are the ones who still in game after the hacking begins, 2nd, hackers are the ones who still alive while everyone dying. It's not 100% accurate but it helps a lot by narrowing the possibilities.
