Synchronicity 2 Posted May 21, 2012 I may still be a summer child, but I wouldn't shoot. What's there to gain if you're not desperate for supplies?Who knows who else might be in the area? I could bring down the guy's friends, or a total stranger, with the sound of my rifle. Killing someone where there is no threat only opens the door to bigger problems. If I was hidden, I would observe him until the coast is clear. If not, I would vacate the area. cesar10022@hotmail.com 3 Posted May 21, 2012 If I had enough ammo in my primary I'd leave my makarov and a clip or two on the ground for him if he was competent.
deadbolt (DayZ) 10 Posted May 21, 2012 if he doesnt have anything good on him' date=' then i just helped him out by killing him[/quote']Ever heard of a Roleplay? No need to be such a retard deathmatch fan. Just turn on your brain.wah wah... everyone that kills me is breaking my immersion! they are all stupid assholes...
Niblik 1 Posted May 21, 2012 I'd shoot him in the legs' date=' then fire some rounds in the air to attract zombies and run back to watch the show.[/quote']Too bad you would have the aggro. What if he threw a smoke grenade on top of the wounded, weaponless player instead of shooting into the air?I feel dirty for even coming up with this evil idea...I may still be a summer child' date=' but I wouldn't shoot. I've been poking around northside and I have found towns just bursting with food and supplies. I don't need to kill for food because I have already gathered it. As for the weaponless player, I would likely suggest a place where he could go to get a gun. I wouldn't give him one though... he might turn it on me. Publik 404 Posted May 21, 2012 Am I in a city? No, let him pull some aggro. I'm not gonna shoot anything in the city. I'd stay away from the guy and if he wants to tag along I'd shoot his legs out once we're outside of the city. No need pulling a liability. Am I outside a city?Avoid. No need pulling a liability. In either case, I'd be extremely wary. Does he have a pack? is it 12+ slots? He could be hiding a gun in his pack. Even a small pack can hold a sidearm. _triumph_ 1 Posted May 23, 2012 My answer right now is shoot.
Mourek 40 Posted May 23, 2012 I never kill survivors, so no I wouldn't kill him... But yeah, my answer might change since I get killed by other survs all the time...
fosty99 160 Posted May 23, 2012 I'd ask if he needs medical attention or a basic weapon to keep him alive. Then depending on what I was originally doing I may help him with his current task.
~Ren~ 0 Posted May 23, 2012 No I wouldn't open fire and for one simple reason, yes I could kill him quite easily, he's unarmed and poses no threat but other players could as soon as I open fire on him. I could be attacked by another survivor/group/bandit, I wouldn't take that risk and will only open fire when I have no choice.
Marou_ 1 Posted May 23, 2012 It would depend on if he was talking, and where I was. If I was near a military encampment or airfield I'd gun him down. If I was in a dinky town I'd offer him the chance to leave and live. If he was quiet and didn't respond within 10 seconds to a side channel query, I would gun him down. -LF-Nym 0 Posted May 23, 2012 Someone may not be a threat now.But they maybe a threat later.Shoot on site.I have tried helping strangers and it always ends poorly for me. So until they make the zombie count high enough to require players to work together to take them out, I will not be trusting anyone but my close friends. blackfang 0 Posted May 23, 2012 First, is he in a group? Yes? Kill them unless they are too few to pose a threat. Which means i have a larger group.Second, does he or the group act suspicious or aggressive? Kill them.Third, ask if friendly. No response = NO means that they/he is not which means death.Foruth, if yes to friendly. A cautious advance along with some chatting. If the other guy turns threatening or does something i interpret as hostile. He is dead.Fifth, can replace all. Do i have something awesome on me? The awesomeness scale? 10/10 means kill everyone i can't sneak past who are not already part of my group. 1/10 might as well try my luck. Worst that can happen is that i respawn at the beach. 5/10 and i am considering. Lee enfield and winchester is 4/10 awesome, hunting knife and box of matches is instantly 6/10. Any automatic rifle = 6/10 and up.So thats my five steps to being a cautious survivor. This made me try to kill a whole lot of people with only one success which was mutual the others got away running or insta logging. I think some of them has hotkeyed the abort disconnect thingie :dodgy:

Knightmare (DayZ) 109 Posted May 23, 2012 Depends on a lot of things including where I am, and if the individual in question sees me.
Kaw 23 Posted May 23, 2012 One question does he have beans? In all seriousness though so long as shooting him wouldn't present a threat to me either by alerting zeds, or If I knew there was a better armed more dangerous person that could be alerted to my presence I'd kill him in a heartbeat. Why? Why not... >=)
cimex 0 Posted May 23, 2012 Who's going to shoot an unarmed man walking through the wilderness?People with good gear, tons of paranoia, and no wits. Obvious trap, come on people.
Jester (DayZ) 0 Posted May 24, 2012 I'd offer him my spare Remington in my pack lol (not the ammo, of course).
Bandit Hunter 29 Posted May 24, 2012 Nope, my social skills developed over the last thousand years would prevent me from murdering him.
rottingcore 1 Posted May 24, 2012 If it was possible I would shoot a clip down to 1 bullet and drop the clip for him. He would pick it up probably not noticing it was mostly empty. If he shoots you anywhere but the head you will probably survive and he won't be able to finish you off. Your turn to do the shooting.
bezki 31 Posted May 24, 2012 NO. :)i never shoot first. even soemone is chasing me. i always wait for the attack. just last time when i started.a bandit chased me trough elektrozavodsk with an m16a2 m1911 and missed his first shot on me.he had his ass owned to the Z's and i just kept in save distance. when he run around the corner by the church i put him down with 4 makarov headshots during his defense against the Z's. i was able to be safe the whole time. had to wait to loot his stuff but man this guy had stuff on him. idk when i have such good loot i just went to the woods. out of cherno/elektro. bbob 1 Posted May 24, 2012 Nope, I wouldn't.The only scenario where I might consider it is if I found him following me, but if the person has not spotted me; I am not shooting no matter what gear he has.I've survived exactly a week so far doing this. Even passed a group of three idiot bandits camping out in the open as well as a generous handful of occasions where survivors have passed me without even knowing.Another, rather more tense, moment was when me and two friends encounted a newbie survivor in a barn we wanted to raid. Rather than attempting to gut him for being in our way, we spaced out with all guns on the entrance, telling him to get the feck out and not aim his gun at us. If he had, he would have been dead before he could pull the trigger. The result? He legged it as did we in the other direction, covering our retreat every 500m's for 2km's. Not a single shot fired to alert Z's/bandits, but the situation was still defused with minimal risk to us.

DillaZ 0 Posted May 24, 2012 For me it dont make sense to shoot unarmed people. They usually have nothing interesting to loot. But if he comes to close to my position he would get shot.
