Issue playing on same server

Recommended Posts

hey guys,

My friend came over and we wanted to play dayz together. We both bought the arma 2 package from steam but I only had it on one of my comps.

I put the entire steam folder onto my hard drive and transferred it onto the my other comp. I downloaded six launcher etc.

Right now, the issue is that whenever he joins a game, and I try to join the same game, I get kicked immediately, vice versa.

I've checked our cd keys on steam for both computers and it's different so I don't think it's cd keys clashing. but I really don't know what would be causing this conflict.

Anyone have any ideas please?

You're going to have to clarify your story better, right now I have no idea what's going on. You had ArmA on one computer, confusion, then transferred steam to another, then confusion.

This answer needs to be in the FAQ I seen this question before. It has to do with a download install ID or some bs. So it sound like you did one download and copied the files as a back up resulting and a duplicate download ID.

Soultion would be to download Arma again on one of the computers. If you download on the same IP you will run into the same problem is my understanding.

So use another internet connection or wait a week or two for your ISP to give you a new IP so its not the same one as the first download.

This sounds really dumb but this is what the answer seems to be. Maybe you don't need to wait a week maybe just try to download again on one computer never had this problem just repeating what I read.

ok sorry, let me try to make it clearer

1. Me and my friend bought arma 2 combined ops. I have 2 computers but only downloaded/ installed arma2 onto 1 of my computers.

2. Friend comes over since I have 2 computers, I transfer my entire Steam folder (which includes arma 2 game and dayz mod) onto my portable harddrive which I then transfer onto my other computer (the computer that I didn't download arma 2 onto).

3. Me and my friend both sign onto our separate steam accounts.

4. We tried to join a server together but basically if I join a server, and then my friend tries to join the same server, he will get immediately kicked - vice versa.

It seems to be some kind of conflict.

oh, so would it be a conflict of arma 2? or dayz? coz re-downloading arma 2 would be a pain...
