Im looking for a new Dayz host.(SOLVED)

Recommended Posts

Hey new on forum, but not to DayZ.

Im currently with HFB and been nothing but trouble for me so im moving to a new host. The only other Hosts that look legit are "Vilayer" and "Host Altitude". Id like to get unbiased imput from onwers and frequent players of these 2 hosting companys. Or if you have any better suggestions than these 2. Thanks in advance ~ Cracker

If you would like to have complete control of your server and it be dedicated. You can use server4you.com and one pretty cheap. The only issue is that windows is an extra $15. I have been using HFB dedicated server service and I havent had any issues with HFB. I dont know about their shared hosting for DayZ but their dedicated is pretty good.

Sorry i should have stated i had a "managed" server. I've ran private servers from my home before(which are pretty much the same as dedicated) and its just too much of a hassle for me.

Sorry I couldnt be more help. If you ever end up getting a dedicated server. I wouldnt mind lending a hand in keeping things up to date and fixing errors.

I'd like to switch over from HFB to my own Dedicated simply for more control (I have none...) And so I could also host other servers once I get bored of DayZ :P

The FAQ isn't the most specific on what is needed (spec-wise) on the server to host. I'm only looking to pay around $50 at the most a month or a little more if you think it's worth the extra.

Have looking here - http://www.server4you.com/root-server/

The eco server should be enough but the ram is what I am worried about. The only catch to this place, is that windows is an extra $15. I have a dedicated server with HFB with windows for $85 and had no problems with them.

Can't recommend Vilayer. Don't know how they compare to other hosts though.

- They have a very, very restricted control panel. They even allow only 4 MOTD lines.

- Forced updates and restarts without warning. They don't bother updating the version number in your server's name so you end up advertising an older version while running a new patch until you fix it yourself and restart your server yet again.

- 12h+ delays in patching, and when the patches come expect sudden forced restart that make your players lose gear

- False advertising: their 24/7 support is more akin to "maybe get a reply in 48 hours" and their setup times are no where near what they advertise.

- No customer communication whatsoever. Delays, problems? You'll hear about it from some guy on these forums who talked to the Vilayer guys on TS (yes, TS...) Don't expect emails from these people.

- Overall unprofessional service.

Plus the owners have day jobs. Vilayer seems to be some kind of a hobby for them.

there is always good and bad about all hosts. just a lot more bad with HFB than the rest.

Well that and the $200 setup fee.......

$200 setup or +$10 / month but I get your point. I'd still take that and have full control over having to hold someone's hand though.

The only catch to this place, is that windows is an extra $15.

Moot since DayZ runs fine with Linux :).

Its so true if you want that great monthly price have to hand them $200, I have a dedicated with HFB and no problems they use wowrack datacentre since i did a speedtest and it showed it was coming from them. The servers line is pretty good get about 97MB/s down and 80MB/s up when I did a test
