McVyn 0 Posted July 21, 2012 So I'm with some friends, running blindly in the night and following them solely by the sound of their footsteps crushing the grass and leaves. I would often get lost from them and we would have to spend 5 minutes figuring out where each other was and start moving again. And then i realized, what if there were something to keep you close to your buddy? A rope, a tether. This would work by you going to a person and just attaching a long rope to him. The rope would have to be pretty long though, wider then the length of a street in cherno, but not long enough to have 2 guys on each side of field in the woods. And if this rope were to get stretched too far, there would have to be some kind of icon or arrow to tell you where the tension is coming from. And also I think that this rope should be able to trip someone if its stretched (someone can walk over a loose rope with no tension).Would this be too hard to implement? Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted July 21, 2012 Christ, can you imagine the buggy deaths caused by attatching two players together! I almost want to see this happen just to see the vids.
Deathcall 101 Posted July 21, 2012 If you have a map, open it and use shift + left click to set a waypoint. With that and a compass, you can't really get lost or separated from your group.
KennyNZ 121 Posted July 21, 2012 I fully understand the problem, and I get we get separated all the time at night... or rather I get separated lol. But yeah, torches. If the guy in front has a torch, or gun with a torch, and has it on, and is running, then you can still a little flicker moving backwards and forth on the ground. Usually this works well enough. Deathcall 101 Posted July 21, 2012 Torches could be implemented yes...You could also simply drop a flare (or chemlight if you want to attrack less attention), and pick it up so people can follow you.Truly, this problem has solutions already built in-game. Torches could work yes, but there isn't a need for them since you can use something already implemented, not to mention that a torch would mean your hands are occupied, while it seems that flares and chemlights can be carried around while still having your weapon in hand. Brusann 67 Posted July 21, 2012 Just shoot automatic weapons into the air!! Helps your friend find you very quickly. Seriously though, it works. Beware of side effects...

Torch = Flashlight :P Where I come from anyway... I guess we're a little backwards.
McVyn 0 Posted July 21, 2012 but using a chemlight or flashlight in the night = being seen. so if one guy has the map and gps and stuff, you attach rope(s) to him
