Copying Game files from friend!

I copyed my friends arma2 and OA since it was taking me to long to download them from steam. We are having problems playing on the same server when I am at his place but when I'm at my house it works fine and we can play together. Would this because because I copyed his game files so I didnt have to download them?? Or would this be caused by something else like joing the same server on the same ip address. Thanks!

Did you purchase another game key? You cannot both play off the same game key at the same time and another one will need to be purchased. Even then game keys are not supported by BiS. So it's just better to purchase the game outright.

Did you buy your ArmA2 key from a CD Key reseller?
