Changing some thing in the profile folder

Recommended Posts

So I read in a thread (on 4chans /v/ board) that if I changed a few things in the my documents/arma2/<profilename>/<profilename>.txt then the game ran much smoother. It was about changing ShadingQuality to 0 and mouseSmoothing to 1.

Are these changes allowed and do they have any effect?

I'd imagine the shading quality set to 0 will improve the framerate at the expense of making the game world look pretty crap.

Mouse smoothing set to "1" is also recommended, it will improve your aiming. From my understanding it controls how fast your crosshairs stop moving after you stop moving the mouse. There is a little bit of give to "simulate" when in real life if you spun around whilst holding a weapon you would not stop instantly, you would go slightly past your targeted stop point.
