Editable view distance

Would love to be able to change my view distance when I am in large towns (don't need 1.6km), but I can not change the view distance as it has been statically set by the mod. I also would like to lower the terrain detail (no grass), but I can't do that either. I tried to change it in the profile textfile, but the mod overrides it. That I can't remove the grass I understand though, otherwise players aren't hidden anymore when they prone (thats the reason I assume).

Is it possible in the future to enable changeable view distance in towns (or lower it automatically to 500 in large towns)? In the larger towns is where my fps drops the most.

Any bit more fps helps :)
