Yeah, those logs are no joke. It records EVERYTHING... It took me years to sift through it, not to mention an additional year to open the file.

Do I understand correctly that this log-file is hosted remotely on the game server, and you have to download a 2GB text-file before you can view it in an editor?

Or do you open it directly on the server via rcon? If so, then is this not an unacceptable waste of cpu time and other resources?

There have been people developing third party programs that help you view/record/etc the log file, I wholeheartedly suggest you look into these if you admin a server.

The fact of the matter is, in the war vs. Hackers, regular joe/server admin has no weapons whatsoever to fight with. In fact, if you adhere strictly to the rules that Rocket, or some genius in his team came up with, you are liable to blacklisting if you ban a hacker as he is doing it in game.

@Alpo, I know when you go through Vilayer.com, you have to download the 2GB file from the server and then open it.

unfortunately the hacking will never end, battleye is just totally inept and the admins can't even be expected to be able to find this stuff in the logs.

Why the fuck are scripts allowed to run anyway?

Engine flexibility. ARMA is a military simulator first and foremost; the ability to spawn items and run scripts is handy for setting up missions and developing mods. It's one of the reasons DayZ even exists, but that flexibility is open to abuse from players who want to cheat or grief. It really does depend on people playing it straight but, according to John Gabriel's Greater Internet Theory, the chances of everyone acting honourably is basically nil.

Some of that security will come eventually, but we'll lose other stuff in the process. This is why we can't have nice things.

we are talking about arma here, a game that there was no profit in hacking, hacking didnt almost exist and the community was mature, now with all these script kiddies coming in from the mainstream cod community, yeah well I guess you get the point.

The whole attitude about not being able to ban people on your own server for hacking needs to be changed. Admins need to be able to ban these script kiddies without fear of their server being blacklisted.

ace I remember seeing first vid of yours. massive hoarding at some NY server I cant recall the name.. anyway, yesterday we were trying to blow some camps at north with a friend of mine. A valley looked just like the camp you guys had at that video and I told my friend about it. "we are close. I know all vehicles are hoarded somewhere near here" few seconds later viola! 10 cars and ural with two quadbikes :D

and yeah..man those vids of yours are great, checked out the new kamikaze one. all awesome. subbed already.
