Sgt. Vanluven 4 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Can someone explain to me how the chat channels work again?I read the newbie help guild, but either he worded it poorly, or I just can understand. Is there a global talk? All the times I attempt to type to someone next to me in Direct chat, I've not gotten one answer. highpanda 3 Posted July 20, 2012 There are still some outdated servers who allowed this according to me. I played on a server like this a few days ago!
schwifty 22 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Switch between channels using , or .Channels in DayZ are:-Direct: only players in close range can hear you or see your chat-Vehicle: only people in the same vehicle can recieve you-Group: Just about useless in DayZ, though I think if you have group selected you can create map markers that the whole server can see (might be worng on that)-Side chat: Some servers have side chat enabled, all players in DayZ can hear or recieve what you type because everyone is basically on the same side as far as the game is concerned. Most servers will kick or ban you for using VOIP in side chat because it can get distracting and annoying (also people love to spam side chat with mics) but text chat is normally okay. Server rules usually pop up when entering a server so make sure you follow them regarding side chat. Edited July 20, 2012 by Frostback
Sgt. Vanluven 4 Posted July 20, 2012 Okay, I was wondering why I saw "side chat" in some vids. Thanks for clearing it up for me.Still don't understand why people never answer be back on DIRECT chat, even when right next to them...
