blockhead (DayZ) 4 Posted May 21, 2012 So far I haven't murdered anyone. It's taken about a week for me to settle with the way I play. Which is best described as scavenger I suppose. Avoid conflict/engagements as much as possible, get in get loot and then get out quick.I've had no interest in taking out other players... however...I found myself almost compelled/enticed to do it last night.Recently picked up a sniper rifle and was in a treeline surveying the surroundings with the scope.Noticed some movement at the top of a crane and found someone looting the body of another player (not sure if he killed him or not). Now, being up in the crane he didn't have any cover to run to and I was a fair distance away. This, added to the fact he had no idea he was sat in the middle of my sights created a compelling urge to take him out. Then I realised, I was sat there for a good few minutes questioning myself as to whether I should or shouldn't.It was almost mesmersing tracking him with the scope down the crane and off into the buildings with a "you don't know you're being watched" feeling.I felt kinda glad I'd stuck to my rules of not killing others players, but at the same time couldn't start thinking that I could have sooooo taken him out.It was almost a disconcerting feeling to a degree, but holy crap on a cracker in added sooooo much to the immersion of this mod. liquidje 38 Posted May 21, 2012 Had the same yesterday. I had only a few flares and no bandages, and ran into a guy who seemed to trust me, as he constantly lost sight of me. He did not have any interesting gear, but I really needed bandages, and at one point the guy was looking for zombies and I had my gun pressed in the back of his head... But I decided to let the poor bastard slip. It is hard to stay honest when faced with the extinction of mankind, but true honest people are rare to find. Becoming dishonest wil only make them more rare to find.
Napoleon Solo 10 Posted May 21, 2012 Sometimes you have to take the risk to trust people, because you'll end up dead anyway if you take on enemies without support. The benefits of finding an honest traveller is much more worth the risk, than not trusting someone. But that doesn't mean that people should point their gun at you.
