Double Barrel For the Win?

Just had one of my best experiences in day z last night. I had recently been killed at devil's castle (took a guy with me, but not relevant), so I start a new character, and I spawn near cherno. So, I think to myself, ok... I'll mess around a bit. I hit up some of the normal loot spawns, and find a revolver in one of the stores. At this point I have a zombie on me, and run near the hospital. I get sniped at, but the guy misses and I manage to escape.

At this point, I'm assuming Mr.Sniper has a few friends in town, so I want to find something a bit more powerful then a revolver in case I need to deal with people. Hoping for a Lee Enfield or Winchester, I find a double barreled shotgun. I think to myself, ok, can't hurt to take it until I find a better primary. Plus, I'd been wanting to try the gun out, but had avoided it like the plague up until then. Finding about 8 shots worth of pellets, I start to head towards the church. I have to cross a few streets,and am being careful not to agro zombies when I see them. 2 guys with automatics dropping zeds, heading in the direction I am. So, since I'm just messing around with this character, I decide I'll stalk these guys for a bit, if I get to kill one or two, more power to me, I'd like the guns.

I figure they're heading towards the church, so I creep along the coastal street until I'm right up next to the church. I hear one of them eating, so I know they're in the church. The front door of the church is shut, and I have a double barreled compared to at least 2 assault rifles, so I decide to set up across the street with my gun towards the door. I guess they heard me outside, because when they do come out, they're ready to shoot. However, they don't notice me, and I'm able to drop one with the first pellet shot from the double barreled.

I'm committed at this point, so I start to circle the church, hoping to get a better angle on the second guy. I end up getting it, but I have to empty the shotgun out to drop him. I'm thinking to myself, did I really just kill two guys with a double barreled?, when I walk into the church to loot. I see a third guy I never noticed however, and manage to drop him with a revolver clip, even though I take a hit and drop to about 8k blood, with a broken leg. Luckily, these guys had morphine, and then I take my pick of supplies and weapons. I take a m4a1 cco with two clips, and some choice medical and other supplies. I figure since I'm in cherno, these guys may end up coming back, so I hide the bodies, and set up in one of the apartments with a view of the church. I hear a shot from the fire station behind me, and see a sniper on the roof. I drop him with 2 shots from the m4, and then keep my lookout on the church.

Eventually, I'm thinking I may just log off for the night, when I hear footsteps. Now, I noted the names of the people I had killed, as I was hoping to be sure I killed them again if they came back for their stuff. A guy with a makarov is staring at me, and I'm not gonna just shoot, as I don't need anything he has. However, he shoots and misses, so I unload, killing him. I note the guy's name, and it's the same as one I had killed in the church, this brings a smile to my face even though he dropped me to about 6k blood, because 1 makarov shot managed to hit me. At this point, I sit in my apartment for a few more minutes, then realize it's late and I need some sleep. So, I log off for the night, happy with the loot I got, if feeling a bit bad about dropping an entire group of people.

+ 1 on shotgun usage. Remington 870 all day.

Ehhh really not a fan of the double barrel.

Would honestly rather use a crossbow but good job :)

Pellets are amazing for the shotgun. I had a very similar experience with the church and a double barrel shotgun although I only had slugs. Took a guy from a group out as he left the church after tricking one of my friends into thinking he was friendly (sweet revenge). I had to retreat back through the town though as one got a shot on me and I was out of ammo. Spent about 1 hour playing cat and mouse with the other two, only to find one alone at the hospital and then back at the church I found another with a broken leg who I had obviously shot previously, so his friend must've been searching for morphine. Good times :)

Those folks were inexperienced... dropping smoke grenade ( it's must have at least 3 of them in my backpack ) and getting on the opposite side where you have seen enemy will most likely get you undamaged out of trap ( and can get zeds on damn ambusher,as I tested it on one bandit :) and then tehy would have had you.And that sniper was really slow and inaccurate if he didn't got shto at you that whole time.

I once had guy in cherno shoting me with at least 3 magz of DMR and having me pinned around several houses for half and hour ( dc-ing is cheating !!! ) .

You had extreme luck that those were probably starters :)

Yeah, they weren't the brightest bunch, but I'm amazed they didn't dc during the situation,and I respect them for it. Though, I didn't find a smoke grenade on them, which suprised me, since they had hit most spawns up before me. The sniper was probably the weirdest kill of the bunch. I don't believe he noticed me in the apartment, it was getting dark on the server, and I was at a bad angle for sighting me. The only reason I noticed him was I was passing between both walls as they both had windows, and I noticed him walking around on the firehouse. Was gonna let him go till I saw the sniper rifle, then dropped him at that point.
