D/c upon reconnecting respawned as new character

Hey all,

can someone help explain if I did something wrong, or its just a bug, so I know for future...

I was doing OK, looting my 2nd village, when I decided to eat lunch... so I got into a building and disconnected by clicking ESC - Abort - Disconnect - Disconnect and then Exit game. I was safe at that moment, no zombies, no other players near (that I know of)

An hour later on reconnecting (to a different server) I respawned with a new character... all progress lost...

any ideas why this happend? How to disconnect safely?

You disconnected right, but I think it's just a bug. It happened to me before. Nothing you can really do about it.

Some servers are not connected to the hive. Try another server and you will have all your gear again and also spawn in that little house you logged off.

Even better: Join the server you last played on.

I had this exact same problem and realized i was on a private server. Would be nice if only servers connected to the hive were listed.

This is it! I noticed the server name sais something along those lines... thats great, thnx a lot everyone!
