CrimsonRake 5 Posted July 20, 2012 Hi all,First time poster so be gentle lol!Been tracking dayz for a couple of weeks via youtube and various articles etc and decided to buy arma:co in the steam sale last night. Got mod up and running this morning and I've played around about 4 hours or so.I will give you a run down of my "lives" so far... First life ran around like a headless chicken while 3 mobs chewed at my shoulder lived about 5 mins... gradually ( on maybe life 9 now) im surviving longer and grasping the controls and feel like im progressing but I have hit a catch 22 like situation..I cant find any sort of firearm.. heading into town even crouch walking attracts critters from what seems like a mile away even with 3 bars on the eye reticle im getting aggro from a long long way away. Am I supposed to crawl everwhere? or am i missing something??I am enjoying the concept and the atmosphere in game but feel like its a little too punishing if i cannot crouch walk in long grass 500 meters away without getting spotted and not having any sort of weapon (I would take a gordon freeman style crowbar right now) seems a little harsh could do with one little small get out of jail free card! GeordieMarv 293 Posted July 20, 2012 Deer stands and Barns away from the cities are safer for a new player when looking for a weapon.

texcat11 11 Posted July 20, 2012 Not all weapons are near deer stands. You can find weapons at about every open building, you just have to keep looking. If you have just started playing I wouldn't recommend going to the deer stands, as they are crawling with zombies. Until you find a hatchet or something at least. noobfun 87 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) and when you have your fine and fancy firearm, dont use itlearning to creep about between Z's without aggroing them ( i crouch run/walk into and through towns fine) is important to you surviving, not having to shoot means you wont agro more zombies resulting in more shooting, shooting results in broadcasting to everyone in the local area theres someone with a shiny gun that might be nice to ownV's Z's its somthing there to protect you when you screw up, not a bulldozer to clear a path. Obviously you've never been to the NW Airfield. Deer stands have 3, occasionally 4 zeds, and 99% of the time when they spawn, they walk away from the deer stand. If you approach from the woods, and you're not standing up and sprinting, you'll be 100% fine.
