Indirect skill sets

Hi dayz people!

I was thinking about a skill system that would work pretty much like the one in skyrim but without you directly choosing any skill. Let me give you an example:

Let's there's a sneak skill which determines how easy a zombie or player can see or hear you. You cannot earn skill points and then use them in the sneak skill, instead, the sneak feat will increase when you enter a zombie's detection radius and get out of it without being detected. So next time you enter a zombie detection radius it would be harder for the zombie to spot you.

Another example with blood points. I'm thinking that if you get hit by a zombie and let's say your blood goes by 2000, if you bandage yourself, eat or get a blood transfusion so that you recover those 2000 points you lost, then next time you will be more resistant to a zombie attack. I did survive the attack, I healed myself and now I'm a bit stronger than before.

I could think about the following feats

  • Sneak
  • Resistance (Blood)
  • Stamina
  • Firearms
  • Gutting animals
  • Laying traps/barber wire/sandbags

Dont even think to try to make this game a gay skill/stats hunter crap.

Your skill to sneak, shoot, run and save stamina its enough.

designers arent busy to make the game easier the longer you play.

They want it to be brute and unfair. If you want skill sets there are other shootinggames you shud buy and not get dayz.

I WOULD go for the following:

-Run faster (or longer) after several *real* hours of sprinting (as in training your legs).

-Steadier aim or faster reload times after several *real* hours of shootin' n' reloadin'.

-Better medical expertise after patching up many times.

The curve being steep enough not to unbalance PvP but still 'feel' like you are making some physical progress...

I don't think he's asking for Skyrim or a dumbed down version of DayZ. These are just ideas, lay down the flame-cannon people...

If there were to be any skills at all it shouldn't be some permanent feature. I was thinking something a long the lines of how they do it in League of Legends where you unlocked skills as you played or even guild wars 2 where you unlocked skills as you used a certain weapon.

Maybe there can be something like a bunch of different skills attached to each action that players make for example every time you use bandage your skill would increase so that your bandaging would be more effective. Maybe something like a max of 3-5% more effectiveness.

BUT these skills aren't permanent you loose them once you die.

Realistically, nobody can just pick up an AKM / AS50 / Even a handgun and know how to use it as well as you do in the game, it should be a learnt process.

Then everyone will just prone around zombies until their sneak skill is massive, they can just hurt their friend and heal them repeatedly in a hospital to make them a juggernaut, or just sprint around until they are usain bolt. It would just be everyone going around boosting, just like skyrim.
