After the hacker nuked the server, the hopper and the spawning at random external map locations, we come with the swapping weapon inside a fire station! Yeah, just died because of changing to my secondary gun inside a fire station, I suddently teleported to the air and died with the fall.

Fuck you

Get out of here

This is alpha

Hope The War Z devs are working hard!

I hear ya man, things are starting to get stale. It's been a bit since we've seen a big patch, and the hackers are getting really old. At least with War Z on the horizon now, the competition will force these guys into overdrive.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think it is unfair to compare a stand alone game being developed by a studio with a mod being developed by a small team.

People sometimes, myself included, need to remember this is just a mod, it found a niche, it became popular. There is only so much the DayZ people can do.

This may be a bad example, because I don't know if you are familiar with sports game, but people have made NCAA mods for NBA2K11 and NBA2K12 ( the later is still being developed), it isn't realistic to expect them to be able to compete ( in many aspects) with a stand alone NCAA game produced my EA sports. While they may be able to make a awesome mod ( and they do) they are still limited on resources and restricted to the confines the base game allows.

I am not trying to detract from the OP's displeasure, I full get it believe me. But we need to be mindful that it is a mod.

No its all good man, just saying competition is good for all involved.

I agree 100%. I guess all I was saying is I don't think we should get our hopes up, or our expectations set to high. Personally I think many of the issues that plague the mod today, will plague it in 5 months, because many of those issues where inherited from ARMA II, other issues, well... I'll just stop there lol.

It's difficult to watch the hacking situation get out of control. Even a few weeks ago, let alone months ago, it was a real rarity to run into a hacker.

Now my group and I have run into the 4th (yes 4th) unique hacker (all on different servers) within the last 24 hours. Three of them were using the god mode hack + who knows what else, and one of them was teleporting to players + gold AKS + C4 blasts + god mode + matrix jumping around the map + telling people how they could see them no matter where they were hiding. It's impossible to find heavily regulated servers because admins have their hands tied with regards to what they can do.

Hacking is unhealthy enough when it involves aimbots + wallhacks in traditional FPS games, but death in those games is relatively meaningless, and poorly managed servers can be easily avoided. That's not possible with Dayz in its current form, which is ruining the fun for us. Whats the point of survival, to plan out routes of entrance, covering fire positions, rangefinding, etc. when someone can simply teleport to you with a makarov and kill everyone in your group because they have undetected scripts injected?

My guess is that the Arma II architecture has some pretty large vulnerabilities, and there might not be much that rocket or BE can do to combat it. Looking forward, hopefully ARMA III will address these issues appropriately.

Not to sound cynical, but I doubt it. The shit that is plaguing this engine today is the same shit that plagued it back in 2000 (meh 1999-2001, somewhere in there). Only big difference, in Operation Flashpoint, if a server admin wanted to ban you or kick you, they banned you. I honestly cant remember what cheat deterrent was used back then, didn't matter because the admins handled it without prejudice.

Yeah I'm not a programmer so unfortunately I don't know what can be done to combat this issue. What I do know is based on what I've read from these forums, as well as the "enemy" forums (hacking sites), it seems that the "cat and mouse" game is in favor of the hackers. BE will update their detection every now and then and issue bans, but the hacking sites will have a newly working hack out in a matter of days, sometimes hours. Those who do get through BE detection get relative immunity from being banned on a server level. As the number of players in Dayz continues to rise, so does the financial incentive for these individuals who sell the hacks to invest an increasing amount of time, energy and money into developing better and better hacks. Even people who get caught by BE and banned simply get a new key for $10 and are at it again for weeks.

The massive attention that Dayz is getting is both a blessing and a curse at this point.

My last death involved an embarrassing point-blank miss from my shotgun and an enemy's makarov filling me up nicely.

Wanna fight about it?
