Need Help Refueling Boat

Is there any way in DayZ you can swim out to a boat to repair it? A group of friends and myself found one, and it's in perfect condition but out of gas about 50m from shore. We have made several attempts to reach it with gas but can't get it to work. Is this even doable, to get a boat refueled that is out at sea, or should we abandon our cause?

unfornetly you will have to abandon it is impossible to do so. but off the topic may i join your little group as long as we use steam chat ill be good but i dont have ts or mumble or skype :(
