Do i need ARMA II or operation arrowhead to run DayZ ?

i have bought opperation arrowhead as a digital item Not steam .

im just wondering do i really need both of them to run DayZ mod ?

I heard somewhere that you can use Arma 2 free instead of buying it, but by doing that you get lower res textures (can't confirm that).

But you need Operation Arrowhead. I bought both of them, in the Combined Operations package, so i don't know if you can actually play it with the Arma 2 free version.
