Server-side option solution.

I know this may or may not have been proposed before but would it not be possible to implement a server sided option to disable PK'ing?That would allow server owners to turn it on or off as they want.That way if a group of friends and themselves want to say turn off friendly fire so they don't need to worry about pvp they could.I mean it's not like there is a lack of servers or anything.This way it doesn't punish people for wanting to be bandits etc as they can just not join said server.I'm open to constructive critisim any intentional flaming with no direction will be ignored and passed over.

1) Play on a FF off server and gear up

2) Jump onto a FF on server to rape nooblets, server hop back to FF off server to store loot and heal up etc

3) ????

4) Godmode

Don't you see this being an overly abusable issue?

Unless your character becomes unique server to server (which it won't) then this will never happen

Constructive criticism: part of the fun of being a bandit is being able to victimize people who want no part in pvp. This is called PKing, and a lot of bandits enjoy it. Enabling FF:off servers or safe zones removes PKing from the game, and thus removes a good portion of the fun for these players.

If you want to play DayZ today without fear of PK, just play on an empty server. There are plenty.

you mean more or less what happens anyway?Admins kick everyone get gear store it in tents and server hop.I don't see how it can be exploited any more then the current system.

no one would be forcing them to play on those servers though therefore it wouldn't be removing their "fun"

I'm sorry but here's the situation I see every day playing this game and reading the forums.A large portion of players want something done about PK'ing.No one wants anything done about it.In it's current direction this mod will continue to travel the Deathmatch path until the people who wanted something done leave.Then there will be mostly just badnits and pkers left.You can guess where the "survival" and "uniqueness" would go from there.

You forgot a step;

"-- and then get reported and their server gets blacklisted from the Hive, effectively wasting all of the money they sunk into the server"

Replacing one exploitable system with another just as easy to exploit system would be a waste of developer time as nothing was fixed.

PvP is vital to the feel of DayZ, the zombies are easy to get by even doing a full sprint through a major town so the only REAL challenge is your group of players facing off against another group of players

I have yet to see this situation as most of the people I have met AVOID other players altogether.I mean the aspect of the game is still there where people avoid everything to not get pk'd.Might as well make it so they can be safe on their own servers.I happen to know of at least a dozen servers that kick whoever whenever and are not blacklisted as they last time I checked are allowed to kick whoever they want as long as they don't BAN them.I could be wrong but I did read that in the rules 2 days ago.My friend owns a server only restrictions he has are that he can't change the server time and he can't password it.

As it stands now they can't take the zombies out altogether and call this mod what it is.A deathmatch mod on a bigger map.

That there is exactly my point. Remove that and then all this game becomes sprint through a town to the best loot spots, drop every zombie that walks indoors and then sprint to the next town.

Avoiding/PKing/observing other players is what gives this game it's nerve destroying edge

k well then I must be missing some nerve function then as I don't feel anything when walking through a town lol.I get shot without every once thinking about if someone is going to shoot me.

Maybe but I doubt it.Earlier I got sniped In the middle of the woods in the farthest Northest corner of the map.There was 6 people on the server.

Easily solved by putting another hive for non pvp servers. But the game would suck if pvp was removed.

I don't like the idea of disabling PvP completely, but we need a 2nd hive with a different ruleset that prevents blantant deathmatching. Or just allow admins to enforce their own rules on servers that are disconnected from the hive altogether.

Imo the game is simply broken. This isn't a zombie apocalypse simulation anymore, it's a giant deathmatch map.

Ty for more or less backing me up lol.I agree that admins shouls be allowed to make rules.Having a sandbox system with PVP makes it so that when the majority want to PK that's what the game becomes.Until something is done or someone steps in this game will not change direction and will become a PVP only mod.Wether it's buffing zombies to make them a threat so people might band together or feel they are more of a challenge or whatever something needs to be done.If the playerbase wants PVP the game will become PVP and not survival.

As for the "fun" thing.I can't speak for everyone obviously but IMO dieing every time you try to gather supplies cause everyone and thier dog is sniper camping the cities isn't fun.Most of the time cherno is off limits due to sniping as is electro and stary sobor.It become a chore to play this game after a while and if you die it's pretty much GG for a while till night time or server switch.
