[Suggestion]Food water cooking and other stuff

Recommended Posts

Greetings

I greatly enjoyed this mod. It is brutal gritty but fun.

Anyway I have some ideas and wanna share them with fellow survivors and bandits.

In mod there are two types of food canned and cooked.

They give back 200 and 800 blood each.

I somewhat feel that this system isnt very realistic. I thinked and that is my suggestions.

A)Snacks like chocolate bars.

It restore 100-400(based on type) blood when eaten. But it NOT fullfill your hunger. It quench it for some time so eating snacks is good idea when you need to restore blood or when you are hungry but dont have normal food.

B)Canned food

Normal food. When eaten it restore 100-300(based on type) and remove your hunger. But it give your character a mark(mark disapear when hunger reach orange oor yellow levels). when your character have three marks it become full and cant eat more(excluding snacks).

B2)Cooked canned food

Some canned food(like canned meat or beans) can be cooked and it restore more blood(like half more). It can be needed for some additional items like pan or pot. Cooked food have their bonus for 10 minutes and should be eaten. If not they get spoil and disapear.

C)Cooked meat from animals

Give mark too and restore big chunk of blood(800).

D)Military rations

Like normal food. Add mark and restore bigf amount of blood(600 or more).

It will add more varietty and choices for foraging.

Similar system should be done for water and thirst model.

A) Sodas and other sweet water should restore some blood(?) or stamina(?) and quench small amount of thirst.

B) Water or tea should make your thirst fully disapear.

It will make water more important.

Also I will suggest adding alcohol and ciggaretes.

1)Alcohol(rather vodka than whisky) will work similar way to morphine but only temporary(10-20minutes). It can add some side effects also. It should be used when morphine is not accessible.

2)Ciggaretes will work like painkillers but only for some time(5-10minutes).

What you think about this ideas?

There are some good ideas here. I like the idea of snacks, though I think it is only fair that it restore your hunger a little bit, if possible. So far the only foods restore completely, so I don't know if partial replenishment is implememted.

The meal limit is an ok idea but I question if it is really necessary. I don't know how other people play, but the blood from 3 meals is too paltry to justify wasting that much, so there wouldn't be a need to track meals. Besides, even if someone ate 5 steaks it would only be 4000 blood. Sounds like a lot, except that steaks are very time consuming to acquire. Not much room for abuse here. If this were implemented, I imagine it would go mostly unnoticed.

Alcohol is a good idea. Personally I would not make it's effect temporary (logically painkillers should be, too, so we've already broken that rule) but instead make it increase thirst since alcohol is a diuretic. The only problem is alcohol makes you drunk, impairing coordination, so it would in effect cause the problem painkillers are meant to solve. Cigarettes don't make sense as a painkiller since nicotine is a stimulant, not an analgesic.

I agree that soda should restore less thirst and give some blood. It is well known that sweet beverages are inferior to water as a hydrant, but sugar is just what your body needs to produce red blood cells. Anyone who has given blood knows that's why they give you juice and cookies afterwards :)
