WORST SCARE EVAR! not joking...

today i had what i now state is the worst scare of my gaming history, and i've played a good deal of horror games.

i was running with my flashlight, in a field in the middle of isolated woodlands, it was in the nighttime and it was pitch black except from where my flashlight was pointing, i go foward running 10-20 meters then stop and shine some light to orient in the darkness, and then from one point shinning light forward, i ran blind and next time i stopped and shined the light, a creature was in the middle of the cone of light... one mini heart attack later i decided to take a break from DayZ for a day or 2.

and here comes the kicker, the creature was a cow >:( i almost shat a brick because of a cow....

anyone else got something scary, weird or just WTF!? inducing they want to share?

First day i was playing i was Looting a mall with my friend, happily makarov'ing zombies, when suddenly we hear shots and the glass windows next to us shattering, i swear to god i shit my pants.

I get used to being shot at now, but if i don't expect it, it is still a huge adrenalin shot.

To me this game is even scaryer than F.E.A.R(the first one), and we needed 3 people to finish that game, switching player every 20 mins coz too f ing scary

had about thirty heart attacks while I planted and blasted

My first spawn on the beach. It was night and pitchblack. I did not know I had roadflares (old version) so I lololod and ran straigh ahead. Since it was pitchblack I didn't know where I was running, nor that I am running. Suddendly I hear a grooooooll. I fired my gun at where I was thinking the noise came from and the muzzleflash lighted a zombie's face 1 cm from my face away. I almost shit my pants... thankfully the flash lastet just for half a sec or so...

Would never scare me, zombies don't spawn in forests. The game becomes a lot less scarier/oh shit i need to survive once you know the mechanics and what to do.

I used to camp cherno all day and find nothing, and now, I just book it for Stary on a 1/40 night server and loot and then hop on a full server and go deathmatch, funny how things change.

nice to see this topic has gotten a good deal of attention, and yes i am new to the game, but i love it already ^^

besides that i had a little fun experience in one of the coastal towns this afternoon, i was looting a supermarket and on my way out i spotted and unarmed survivor across the street, and i could literally see the panic that gripped him, his flaslight ended up pointing up in the sky.

Don't feel bad, I've been playing for a month now and had a similar experience a few weeks in. We have a base camp with over 10 tents set up, no joke. It's been up for near a month with no one messing with it, anyways I was headed there late one night to drop some gathered supplies. As I crept in, I saw something moving right by one of the tents, like a person crouched over. I hid in a tree with my gun drawn, and slowly approached as I realized this person was oblivious to me it seemed. Got close enough to finally see a pigs face staring back at me, turns out it was a boar just chillin by the tent, never been so scared by an animal before. I now have night vision so that shouldn't be an issue.

Had been sitting overwatch at the north east airfield for a while as my friends looted. Out of nowhere I hear a m107 crack right over my head, no idea how they had seen me in the bush at the time (was in ghillie) no i kno about ir. I didnt hesitate I got up and started running off toards the woods, 9 shots more flew near me or hit the ground right next to me. I kept zig zagging in and out of trees and didnt stop lol. I got away hid in a tree and watched the direction I had come from for almost 20 minutes before heading back to camp.

Not much scarier then almost being hit by a 1 shot gun when your fully geared and not expecting to be shot at.

Lame thing is my friends found the guy and as soon as they started shooting at him he combat logged what a loser.

i had some decent stuff on my character this afternoon and was exploring the far west on the coast (yes i know other players are likely to be at the coast too) and all of the sudden a gunshot rang out, lucky me, it only grazed my arm but i had no idea where the shot came from so i dove down behind a bush and bandaged myself, and the fool ran right past the bush i was hiding at without looking so i put a enfield round in his back killing him with one shot.

i had to become a bandit but i survived and i took a map as a souvenir of his corpse.

and i know the lee enfield might as well be called "dinner bell" when fired near zombies but at close range against bandits it kinda awesome ^^
