why does DayZ take so long to load ?

Recommended Posts

can anyone give a good explanation as why it takes so long to load ?

it is not the most cutting edge game but even games like bf3 (which havea a slowish load time for eg) is nothing compared to this

also why is the serverside so performance effecting to your end in game

i get about 50-6o fps when server and connection on server is fine but if it is not good like at moment on alkot or most i end up with half the fps and sometimes lower :(

like mentioned earlier bf3 is a pig to run but i get double fps of this .

will the serverside performance drops be sorted ?

My guess that in the span of a couple of generations of FPS games the loading technology/algorithms has gotten more efficient. Ever played Battlefield 2? It's loading times is even longer than that of ARMA2's and it's older then ARMA2.

It is silly to try compare bf3 thats built by expertises who have lots of years of experience under their belt and is developed by a big company, to a Mod in alpha built by a couple guys still learning... lol

It takes time because the client has to contact the server, which has to contact the HIVE, which has to validate with Battleye, and then everyone has to swap data... etc.

FPS issues are partly because ARMA2 is not well optimized and partly because part of the game processing is conducted on the client side.
