Food?

Hello,

I think it's now my 10th character ~ around 2 hours played atm. I went from barn to barn and found some really cool equipment, watch, compass, weapons. The problem is that my food level is critical.

I've never found any food, only sodas :/.

Now I'm just constantly checking different servers if they have food in the barns but most of them are empty.

Are there special places for food ?

Supermarkets are your best bet. Also, if you're not using an online DayZ map, you should be.

You can find food everywhere. It's random... but.. if it's your 10th character and you have played about 2 hours then you got some other problems than just food xD

i am at day 19 now and still dont have matches^^. my brother is more lucky he found like 3 pieces in 2 hours.

yesterday i legged all from novy sobor to berezino to solninchini to elektro and found ONE can of beans in an almost empty server. its still enough :)

ps: i know exactly were to look up the stuff i need. its just never there :)

Try the markets. Otherwise, find yourself some matches and a knife and have a constant supply of meat. Coincidentally, matches are most usually found in markets as well. Don't worry, if you die you can always find the stuff you're carrying again. My suggestion, if you do die of course, is to make a run into one of the towns when you first spawn.

Yep, supermarkets are your best bet- to my experience they have at least one can. Otherwise they spawn just about anywhere else, but I suppose the chance is a lot lower. You should try your best to find matches/hatchet/knife so you can kill animals and live off of them instead of beans :).

ah fuck man , i thought I would die so I just run to a city. Didn't even die so I looked for more zombies and then I found a supermarket,... :/ now i have 4000 blood but iam fully equiped :D

I also found a tent.

Good stuff, if you have a hatchet, matches and knife you should go kill some animals and eat their meat to recover your blood quickly; later on if you can have a big packpack full of cooked meat it'll save your hide whenever you get some nasty shots or bites.

dont worry it'll come along. I learned everything without online help, you'll get the hang of it too. Food spawns, only much more rarely than sodas. Supermarkets usually spawn canned goods, but they're death traps

If you are desperate for food or drinks, just start killing the zeds. Some of them occasionally carry cans of food. And sodas.

At least if you happen to have a makarov, its excellent for that. Its quiet enough. Just go for the headshots. Pick the zeds so that there aren't too many close by for you to aggro. Then check the dead zed bodies. One makarov clip gets you 8 zeds at best, there is a good chance of finding some food on one of them. Thus, you can exchange some of your bullets to food and drinks. (Go for the farmer looking zeds, not the suit guys when trying to find food)

Some words of caution to this food gathering approach:

- You obviously need gun and enough bullets to do this. (Or else you need to risk it with the hatchet, which usually costs you blood)

- Its not usually a sensible approach to get blood. You probably lose more blood than you regain from the food gained, as any zed that manages to hit you basically is a bigger setback than the (unlikely) gain of a can of food.

- Bandits might hear you shooting.

Or... You could try to risk it by trying to meet up with some experienced player to help you out..The problem with that is obviously that they'll probably just shoot you instead. :D
