Alex (DayZ) 8 Posted May 20, 2012 Was thinking of creating a detailed PM/Email to Rocket about the production of an Events Team that would;- Create player driven events to give a greater amount of persistence to the landscape.- Events that involve players to generate organised activities with on-going consequences to breath life into Chernarus (dynamic world).- No special treatment to the events team; just player co-operation but recognized for their service as part of the team- Create a greater awareness of roleplay and how it can play a massive part of a games immersion and how it can create a unified community.- Events can give people a reason to logon because it offers the chance of something new and fresh.- Events could take place in game or be written stories/fictional tales on the forums and allow for player contributions. Just brainstorming what it could bring to the mod and how roleplay can bring a great amount of immersion to the game. Do not get me confused with a roleplay that takes place with simply text or /me actions; roleplay can be the smallest things from eating a can of beans or being a bandit and making your kill. Everyone has a role to play but we can bring a greater amount of depth into the mod by fleshing out these roles and adding new ones.Curious, discuss guys while we wait for 1.5.8! Otleaz 3 Posted May 20, 2012 Events need to be managed throughout, so you would need a team for every server these events occur on for the duration of the event. You also need to give someone the power to manage the event, which is very dangerous and would require supervision.Keep that in mind while brainstorming. SDE Bellisarius 1 Posted May 20, 2012 its all in all a nice thing since the end game is quite shallow. but that is infact the problem. This idea will take quite some time to setup and implement and that time is better invested in fixing bugs and ovaral server/game balance.Rocket already mentioned that missions/objectives will be added in the future (something allot of ppl seem to be missing when they go on talking bs like players having no value in-game, maybe when missions come and HAVE TO COOPERATE they realize oh wait players DO HAVE VALUE)but i degress..my point is your idea is nice but the dev time it takes to implemet i rather is spent fixing what is already in place to make for a sounder base. Alex (DayZ) 8 Posted May 20, 2012 This idea will take quite some time to setup and implement and that time is better invested in fixing bugs and ovaral server/game balance. The Dev team shouldn't have to be involved or take time out to organise the events team; its simply a case of electing a leader and building the team. Then the team decides its structures' date=' its rules. The team contributes ideas to build events and then they work together to execute them.Rocket already mentioned that missions/objectives will be added in the futureThe events team would be built to AVOID exactly this, I personally wouldn't want to see AI scripted missions in a sandbox like this - the game shouldn't have to tell people where to go or what to do it should all remain in the players hands. The events team will be ran and maintained by players to help enforce this.Keep up the discussion guys, a lot of established MMORPG's create event teams and this bordering close to the atmosphere shouldn't play fool to the exception. forte (DayZ) 3 Posted May 21, 2012 I prefer events like thishttp://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3409Completely player organised, uncontrolled, unscripted.Drum up some drama and simply add fire
Alex (DayZ) 8 Posted May 21, 2012 While WAR is incredibly fun and I know Pandemic Legion seem to think EVE = DayZ it doesn't have the mechanics in place to actually feel thrilling. To be honest the war is a sham; PL are bandits, they shoot everyone anyway and shooting Legion besides shooting everyone else in the process isn't an actual war - its just them playing their role like usual but decided they wanted some forum press for their efforts. I'm talking actual events that all the players can be involved in and has a straight edge purpose.
_triumph_ 1 Posted May 21, 2012 Make a manifesto and make a faction/clan. Have people spam the chat and yell into the mic. There you go. Events made.

And this leads me to the question, If you only need players for this why not just setup your event and post it on the forum instead of making a discussion about it? I mean its not like you need approval. As Tri mentioned, just post your event thread and manifesto/rules w/e and go from there.
