what to do

When i start dayZ i noticed right off i have no gun, so i cant get into a town to loot a building without being killed by zombies. I have tried finding a few deer stands, but both of the ones i looked for i could never find even though i looked at an online map and constantly checked my surroundings. So i would like to ask: How should i start off in dayZ? how can i find a weapon? plz help this poor noob who has no idea what hes doing :)

If you want check out http://dayzdb.com/map, When I first started off, I cautiously went to Elektro and scavenged but don't spend too much time there because it's survivors galore. Head inland and you'll find better weapons

Keep trying man... you have to sneak around the Zeds... That's the only advice i can give you. Find the nearest city and go prone if you must... but you have to sneak into some building and find some weapons.

If i can advice you at north of the Chernogorsk there is nice hospital with couple of apartments... if you will be lucky and no player won't kill you, you will get almost everything what you need including weapons and medical supplies :)

First off, you are a new player. You have no risk if you die.

Run into large cities and let the zeds follow you into buildings. Sneak out the back door of the buildings (after you have looted the building, if you are able to) and go to the next building. Don't go to deer stands right away. You main plan is to get survival gear first (food, water, tools, secondary weapon and ammo). Then you can head north to search barns in low populated cities or military spawns.

They do notice you, but they will have to be very close (like 3 metres away).

NW side of Chernogorsk, there are 5 appartment buildings and a hospital. Sneak in there at night and you will be golden.

Backpacks, guns, food, sometimes camo, meds, maps, compasses. If there isnt enough in there a block SE of the hospital is a military set up of tents. SW past the factories there is a supermarket (also good for guns and bigger backpacks and everything) and a fire house. If you venture further in the pubs and cafe's are great.

Going at dusk and staying low and slow should see you through safely.
