pyrite 0 Posted July 19, 2012 Server: US 880Time: July 17, 2012 sometime in the evening (sorry don't know exact time)Incident: Joined server last night and was promptly kicked. Server became locked afterwards for quite awhile. Checked before I went to bed and it was still locked with a decent number of people with [DHB] tags on. Is still locked today with people on it. dcskill 117 Posted July 19, 2012 And this is a problem why?If you want your server to be white listed, it MUST be open to the public.
joe_taylor1991@live.com 5 Posted July 19, 2012 I'm sorry, If you pay for a server then you can do whatever you like with it. Shouldn't have to be branded anything. If you want to help them pay for the server then you can brand them anything you like.

Plasty 7 Posted July 19, 2012 I'm a representative of this server.Would like everyone to know that the server is brand new. We just got it running last night. Due to the new patch, things have been going missing, vehicles have not been spawning, etc. The server admin himself actually glitched and ended back on the south coast. Before the server went down, there was a message that went through informing everyone about the situation. Pretty much everyone left (including the members), you didn't. At this moment, the server still has issues. Vehicles are still not spawning for one. The server will be open to the public soon. Please be patient. As it is, people are far too eager to get servers blacklisted. I recommend you rein in those tendencies. It's difficult enough that we're paying for our servers, have little to no control over our them, AND have to deal with people who smear our server before it's even past it's infancy stage. We started this server ourselves because we were sicked of unstable servers and abusive admins. We don't want that reputation ourselves. Be patient and the server will be up and open. Hopefully by then, we'll have a server that's stable, fun, and FAIR for all.
Hashisx 52 Posted July 19, 2012 I don't think he wanted to get you blacklisted. He probably didnt have any other form of communication with you guys. Hence the "?" I think he was looking a reason not accusation.

RSOblivioN 8 Posted July 21, 2012 It's not Rocket's fault, it's the base game of ArmA 2 and the unfortunately inadequate battleye app that can't keep up with the hackers. To put it in perspective, ArmA 2 has sold over half a million copies in 3 months due to DayZ. The sales rate was up 500% and hasn't dropped off the Steam top 6 despite not having a flash sale of any kind and only being discounted 20% during the sale period. No other game has stayed in the top ten during the sale period. This influx of people has drawn the attention of hackers to previously relatively peaceful online community. The Battleye app was once perfectly capable of dealing with the few hackers who were interested in ArmA 2 but now with the intense focus of players and hackers is not up to the task. Also just looking at MW3 and BF3 the two largest FPS franchises out, neither can effectively combat hackers either. MW3 suffers them on avg every second game played, with BF3 often having at least 2 players per 64 player server using overt hacks, and another 2-6 using covert hacks.Something to keep in mind before blasting devs about hackers when it's such a tough thing to combat in an online FPS scenario. Plasty 7 Posted July 21, 2012 Perhaps I was too harsh on Rocket/Devs but this game will not survive if hacking isn't reduced to a trickle. Our server was barely 2-3 days old before it was nuked. At this point, there's no point for us to acquire vehicles, hoard gear, and set up player outposts.I think ultimately this game needs to go the MMO route with centralized servers. Granted, games like MW3, BF3, and regular first person shooters have a ton of cheaters. That said, they're also non-persistent games where items do not carry on in servers. Persistence = Invested Players = More to lose.
Plasty 7 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Probably will stop hosting. No point when we have zero control/protection. Edited July 21, 2012 by Plasty
ArchAngel-7- 45 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) When I first got my server up an running, I locked it. There is no decent information out there concerning RCON and Battleye commands, let alone server management and logging. So I locked it to test the ping limiter, the .RPT files so I could learn how the logging coincides with events which will allow me to find out if anyone is duping or cheating. The Lay-Player does not understand what goes into running a server or the money paid for it. And quite often misunderstands alot of what is happening when they are in the server and "things" happen. For instance....Battleye will kick you if your ping exceeds 540ms. I had a player last night on my server get kicked for this issue. His friend asked me why I was kicking him. Of course I was not doing this, battleye was. Which I explained. Then his friend asked me if his ping was bad?(14ms) and responded no in fact it was good. He said "ok good, cause we are going to have problems if i get kicked". I asked him what he meant by that. He did not respond. The Lay-Player downloads DayZ...plays... reads the forum....finds the rules about server hosting.....and presumes to think he has some control over the admin of any server. Then threatens any "thing" that happens to him that he deems unfair as grounds for blacklisting. Its kind of like going to a party for a certain type of club or group at someone's house and telling them how they should do things in their house that they pay for. Yeah its a party that everyone is invited to. Yeah its a party that makes sure everyone gets the same treatment because such are the rules of this club party. Now of course there are some people who host these parties and bring things they should not. There are some that lock the door and do not let anyone in except friends. There are some that make people leave for dumb things. And while they may be wrong or right depending upon who you ask for doing such things. The fact is, its their house. Yeah there are rules. Yes they should follow them. But its their house. Now the club that they belong to(dayz code/hive) is not theirs. So they should definitely follow the rules if they want to remain a part of the club. Its a tricky situation. I have played arma2 since its inception. Server Admins were Admins for the fact that they wanted their own server to play on for their clan or what have you. They always had the right to kick ban for anything they did not like. These rules are in place because this game has to get off the ground and its gonna need the support of the whole community to do so. I believe if this game becomes standalone or an official DLC for ARMA3 there will be both public and private servers for it of course. Which will mean Admins will be able to kick ban to their liking.EDIT: I swear if Rocket does not get backed for this, or if he doesn't get more then "yeah, nice mod" "thanks for making us a lot more money than we would have made if you had done nothing". Then there should be a revolt! Edited July 21, 2012 by ArchAngel-7-
PimpinSmurf 26 Posted July 21, 2012 Someone needs to get off their freakin ass and start blacklisting servers. Admins would fall in line and stop abusing.
