EPIC DAYZ TRAILER

Recommended Posts

Now that I've got your attention...

Here's the promo for the 28 Dayz Later series, hope you enjoy!

Made with the intention of getting recognition for a small series a few of us here are pulling together, advocating the glorious Chernarus Zombie Apocalypse.

Here's the 28 DayZ Later Official Forum Post

Leave your comments and feedback!

For those interested, this was all recorded with Fraps @ 30fps and sometimes Bandicam @ 30fps 1920 x 1080 (100 Quality), using various footage from the actual series, and the rest from prior adventures aka. us fucking around.

Used "Very Large" Interface size via options menu. This gets rid of the HUD inc. Debug Monitor - takes a bit of fiddling for vehicle HUD, and for the Uh-1H (helicopter) it doesn't entirely rid of the crosshair. Infact, it makes it bigger.

You'll find with cars that if you just double tap ALT, the V-shape crosshair will disappear after a few seconds.

Furthermore, it was edited using Adobe After Effects CS4 and Premiere Pro CS3!

Wow, thanks for the nice words guys!

A couple of people have said that the song doesn't necessarily suit the theme of Dayz, but then others have said it works perfectly so I guess it comes down to personal artistic taste (sec, just puked saying them two three words)

Yep, used Premiere Pro CS3 for the most part.

I used After Effects CS4 only for the first 10 seconds, to achieve that effect with the slitting.

Gosh dangit. Of all the places for a mispell to weave its way in.

The ship has set sail now, and I wish it the best of luck.

EDIT: *Salutes said ship*

*Point towards Sovlet*

We should really forbid him from using anything more powerful than a makarov. He seems to be making a habit of accidentally shooting team-mates, you know! D:

I have a question, with the free version of bandicam, how long can you record for? Cause i know the free version of fraps you can only record for 30 seconds

edit: good trailer though, liked it

Thanks :]

Off the top of my head, I remember seeing that you could record for 10 minutes at a time with the free version of Bandicam, and it also places a "Bandicam" watermark across the top of the footage.

Man I hate when people spew around the 'epic' word, but anyway it's cool. Love the music!

I feel dirty for doing it. However, it seems people only want to click something if it either has lots of slow-mo, and sad music, or is nailed with the word epic.

I apologise for being such a scumbag - I'LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN I PROMISE

Last time I checked, this game was the zombie apocalypse...not Vietnam...

Still.

Good song. Good editing. Good trailer.

10/10 would watch again.

Running out of ways to say thank you, but I really mean it.

It's very humbling.

As for the choice of the song, there's definite ambivalence as to its selection. Some people think it suits, others disagree.

Now, it's not about a lack of creativity. There are a couple of things I was trying to achieve with this promotional-shindig.

First and foremost, is that it has to be easy to remember, and short. The music was chosen because it's a great track with great popularity - easy to remember. I could've gone for slow-motion and slow, sad music, but that's been done to death by this point. I wanted something that was less common - so I went for it.

Ofcourse, this may not be Vietnam, but Vietnam was just as much as horror as I imagine the Zombie Apocalypse to be. Yet Vietnam still had this great charismatic vibe from the music scene that accompanied the era. In a series that aims to be entertaining, I want to get across that certain charismatic vibe, so that people know that what we have is interesting. I want people to watch it, because that would make it worth the trouble!

The Vietnam war was fought by (in some number) conscripts. People who hadn't a choice to whether or not to go to war. I like to think, in the same way, all the survivors we play as are concripts to the apocalypse. No choice in being there, but we make the most of it. sometimes we have fun, other times we're distraught.

I don't want to make a massive 1000 word essay, but indeed I'd love to get a discussion going over this, because my point of view is certainly not the only one.
