HenryK788 3 Posted July 18, 2012 Ok. I've been playing this game for about 2 days now and i stay on for a couple hours at a time. no matter how hard i look i can hardly ever find any gear or food/water. i say ive spent about 8 hours playing and searching for stuff and all ive found is a couple hatchets, 1 coke, an enfield, a crossbow and a couple clips of ammo. is this a ridiculously small amount of loot or is this normal? please share your experience. doom4mr 135 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) you search in the wrong places...airfields.go to Balota there is military base near the road and there are 4 deer stands, check it, but be careful Edited July 18, 2012 by DooM4MR
gunnarkeith@ymail.com 27 Posted July 18, 2012 It's fairly normal, the point is that it shouldn't even feel like eight hours. So if you're counting down the hours that go by, you won't have as much fun. You should be joyed to find a gun and such!It simply means your looking in the wrong places, try big cities in firehouses and churches!Good luck!
HenryK788 3 Posted July 18, 2012 you search in the wrong places...where should i search? I've checked houses, barns and warehouses so far, as well as a few shacks.
GeordieMarv 293 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) It's the luck of the draw! Sometimes you can go for hours and not find much. Sometimes you can find stuff pretty quickly.Try to get a hatchet (to chop wood) a hunting knife (to gut animals and take raw meat) a water canteen (for ..er...water) and some matches to make a fireplace to cook raw meat. Then food and water wont be a problem at all. :DAlso search zombie bodies, they can also have food on them. Or try to find a supermarket in a town (quite risky sometimes though)Deer stands and Barns away from the cities are safer for a new player when looking for a weapon. Yes, the loot will reset, but if you can just sprint into a firehall or an airbase control tower, you'll be pretty set, zombies go slower in buildings, so if you find a gun in there, you can defend yourself from zombies anyway. ^_^The point is, try not to be as paranoid, the zombies aren't as big a deal as you will think. Have fun with it!

randir14 7 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) Use this map and look for cities with the shopping cart icon: http://dayzdb.com/mapYou will find tons of food and drinks in those markets. For example if you spawn in the southwest part of the map you can head north and find markets in Zelenogorsk, Pushtoshka and Vybor. cmochre 8 Posted July 18, 2012 yeah i had the same problem when i first started out just make sure you hit the residential areas, im probably already saying what everyone else is but from my experience food can seem very scarce but once you start to get a bit more established you will have more beans than you can shake a stick at! and if your lucky enough to find matches quickly then you are set. one word CHURCHES! they can spawn everything you need to get set map, compass, food, packs etc..
