FPS progressively drops need to restart my computer.

Recommended Posts

I was playing day z for about 3 hours last night. It was running perfectly smooth for basically the whole three hours, at the very end of my session the frame rate started dropping. So I closed the game and reopened it but the issue persisted, then I booted up 3 different games and the lag actually carried over into all of them and made them unplayable. So i restarted my computer, after that everything was back to normal, no issues or anything. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this and if a bug in day z would could actually effect frame rate in my other games, or if perhaps something is wrong on my hardware end. I really don't want my GPU to be dying.

My system:

Intel i7 2600

GTX 590

8gb of ram

Windows 7

Just some additional details the game was probably running around 60 FPS before it dropped, when it started to drop it cut in half instantly then over the next 10 minutes it worsened to like 3-5 fps

When you start to slow down hold in LEFT SHIFT then press the NUM PAD MINUS key, then let go and type FLUSH to flush the video memory out.

Make sure your in a safe spot as the receiving window will show up as it reloads the textures.
