Backpack dropping.. safe or not at all?

So I finally found a Coyote backpack.. if I make a run into town and drop my backpack in the woods to hide it, will it despawn, or will it be safe like that?

If that server resets or something well then there goes your pack. You can drop a backpack next to your new one then get all the stuff out and put it into your new one. I wouldn't advice hiding it anywhere though.

I believe since it's just classified as loot that it will despawn if you leave the area. Plus it has no "Save" feature like vehicles and tents do so it wouldn't get through a server reset which happens frequently.

Don't know why you'd want to hide the backpack. It can hold a lot of shit.

Best bet, open the pack on the ground. open your bag, transfer stuff, then pick up the new bag.

It leaves your old bag there.

I wanted to hide it while I ran into town for supplies, so if I got killed I could run back to it.

It could also fall through the floor if you drop it and you would not be able to get to it.
