Walk like a Zombie

Recommended Posts

I think there should be a "walk like a zombie" option.

- a faster movement option than prone, that possibly lowers awareness around zombies

- camouflage when other players are around. I can spot other players just by their movement animation

Whatcha think?

This has been discussed before, please use the search option next time.

Also, backpacks would give you away to players, so crouch walking or prone crawling is still better, without the extra second of laughter the first time you show friends.

(Hint: Even with most players prone, I notice the backpacks first, they stick out more than you'd think.)

Sorry, i searched "walk like a zombie" and "zombie walk" and didnt see any results.

That's fine, I didn't see anything on the first page but "Walk Zombie" came up with results like:

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30514-new-player-animation-play-dead-other-changes/page__hl__+walk%20+zombie#entry294454

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/12444-walk-like-a-zombie-on-pressing-shift-play-dead/page__hl__%2Bwalk+%2Bzombie

I didn't read through them, but those are 3 topics that came up. I didn't run any other kind of searches.

This is an excellent idea in the context of the game as it exists right now. It would make stealth more viable while using these weak zombie spawning and AI mechanics. I don't really sneak much at all anymore, you are much less likely to get sniped just sprinting and weaving building to building losing most zombies and popping the more persistent ones. Even though I would rather have radically different zombie behavior (they should move in groups and spawn regardless of location) to make something like "zombie impersonation" less useful, I cannot think of a good reason for a player not to be able to do this. It even comes with its own built in downside- you might get mistaken for a zombie and shot.

edit: Just remebered, this is how Bill Murray died in Zombieland. Funny shit.

I like this idea lot.

The subtle increased movement is nice, being practical being a player and all, and as an extra factor other than obvously being the guy with a backpack or with a weapon walking around like a zombie. Might fool people at a distance I think.
