Ugarte 0 Posted May 20, 2012 I'm pretty new to the DayZ mod (and ArmaII). After a few failed communication attempts with other players, I finally met up with a buddy in-game who I was talking to outside of the game (on Ventrillo). We tested the Direction Communication channel and found that it wasn't really working for us.Direct Communication chat was not seen, and when we used the in-game voice chat it was *very* quiet, even with us standing next to each other. We tried to adjust volume options in-game but we couldn't come up with anything. Any suggestions to fix the voice chat or get the chat to show up? I'd hate to use the global chat channels to talk to someone right next to me.
Legacy (DayZ) 1091 Posted May 20, 2012 http://dayzmod.com/forum/search.php Please use search, every day someone comes on the forum and asks a question and never searches the many many topics of said issues, especially Direct Comm.
Ugarte 0 Posted May 20, 2012 Ok, I see now that it is bugged until the next Arma II patch.

This works for us 90% of the time. The volumes: Make sure your Microphone volume in audio is set to maximum (this is the recording volume of your mic). You might also want to check that microphone boost is enabled in windows volume control. As for hearing others, the direct communication channel is only connected to the "Effects" volume. As far as I know, VON volume slider has no effect on direct comm channel. Make sure your Effects and Microphone are both set to max, and you can set the other channels such as Radio and Music to half.Direct Communication channel is a bit broken at the moment and unreliable, especially when meeting strangers. Bohemia Interactive developers are working on a fix. The latest beta patch does not fix it. Here's another thread about it: Proximity Chat
dunnobe 3 Posted May 20, 2012 If you talk in vehicle chat (or even squas chat) people should normally hear local positional sound as well, shouldn't they? I haven't tried it out though.

It doesn't matter what channel you are using, people near you will still hear the voice coming from your character as well (if direct is not bugged for them at that moment).
