Enviormental Suggestions.

Recommended Posts

So I was sitting outside of the North West Airfield because I'd saw a glimpse of someone as I got into position for over watch. I waited patiently trying to get eyes on said player and then I got a thought, probably a common one, "Wouldn't it be great if it were snowing... that would make this so much harder".

Not only would I have to sit quietly watching over the targeted zone I'd have to battle the elements to do it. Cold setting in on a constant bases over the course of a winter season in game. I'd have to manage keeping myself warm and safe as well as keep a constant vigil on my surroundings for the known threats around me.

It would also introduce the need for seasonal sets of clothing for the determined surviver who just never dies. Right now I feel like my world is to easy, it's not challenging enough. My only threat comes of players, not even the zombies are a threat anymore now that I know how to deal with them (which in a "realistic" verison would actually happen).

So I feel the need of harsher enviorment is needed, coming in forms like drought were water is limited and you must survive from canned soda rather then the lakes that are all dried up or the wells. Or your forced into canned food in the winter when all the animal life has fled the land for warmer conditions.

There are tons and tons of examples I could give of how just our world could make surviving that much harder. Which is what it's all about really. It challenges both bandit and survivor to work harder for what they can get and hold on to it. A prepared bandit would be stocked for his excursion into the airfield for his taste of pvp, but if he wasnt he might find himself in some serious trouble. The survivor who enjoys the survival aspect of the game would benfit from the sheer challenge of copeing with their enviorment and making due with what they have.

It also opens the door to another suggestion, which would be some kind permante or semi permante housing. "camp". Right now we have players would stock there things into tents, with no way to secure them when they go off line, just the hope that no one finds them in there norther nitch of the world. Which creates the easy access for anyone willing enough to go from a walk. Shouldn't people have to work harder then stumbling upon a tent? Shouldn't they have to pick a lock or something... anything to make it more challenging to steal another's items. Because if we want to get realistic here...who puts there entire life line in a tent with zero security.

If you were to lose your "tent" in a real version... your life is is critical danger, you'd want to protect your life.. So I think that should reflect in this type of game. The same goes for my "bandit side" I don't want to die... give a sigh and say "Well i better go up to those known tent locations to regear". Because honestly... it's so easy to find and raid a camp now that why wouldn't I... when an as50 and other goodies are just a 20 minute walk comapred to looting for days on end just to get back into the game... You don't really think your hurting your game experience till it's too late.

In the past 3 days I've raided 2 atvs, 2 moter bikes, 1 GAZ? White car..., 1 ural, 1 off raod truck, and 2 bicycles. All becasue I knew where to look... North... Out of those I got countless high end military grade weapons. I just feel like these is to easy. I wanna work harder for it. That's all. It's not like i can pretend to not know where the camps are. ya know?

Feel free to comment and troll my post till your hearts content.

I agree entirely with your suggestions for a harsher environment. It would make the game far more interesting battling the elements all the time, not to mention it'd give a serious downside to them snipers who sit for hours in one spot, just alt-tabbing back in every couple of minutes to see if there's anyone to shoot.

I remember the most fun I ever had in this game was back when food and water wasn't spawning, and I had to hunt down animals and constantly refill my canteen (of which I had to gain through zombie loot). It gave me a constant objective, and my military assault rifle felt like it was simply reassurance in travels to survive. Once I got a gun it wasn't about how many people could I shoot before I died; but rather, how long will it help me do what I need to do to survive the conditions?

I'd love to see harsher chernarus so that this sort of adventure could happen all over again, all the time.

Actually a harsher environment could be cool. Snow would provide both extra cover for those in the correct camo, and a problem for those not (ghillie suits in the open). As well as a problem for anyone out in the cold for too long. Heatpacks would have a better place in the game, as well as campfires and cars (heaters inside).

It could also be cool if the heat ingame functioned as a stamina decreaser at the very least, slowing people down faster from the heat.

I don't know if the game's engine supports this, but I do.

for one not bashing your idea but if you don't like finding high grade weapons in cars don't loot a car simple fix. to get in a tent all in real you just slash the side open and by pass the lock. the tent isn't invincible, its fabric.

I agree harsher environment is needed.

you can set up bases you just have to get creative, saw someone sand bag a doorway I assume they are going to spawn there eventually wasn't keen on sticking around. just be creative, rockets been talking about underground bases so in the future there will be hide aways.
